No!
We tried it in the past. It lasted for about a week.
Sounds a good idea, but doesn’t work in practice.

OK.

How about getting those who may want to be rescued to register for LZIR, in the same way as the potential rescuers do now?

They could be asked to confirm insurance and so on. Cut out the chancers who, as someone put it earlier, are just looking for a free recovery service.

I'd agree with that. What are you going to say to a new member when they call for some help? Sorry, you'll have to sit on top of that mountain until you've made 25 or however many "constructive" posts before anybody can turn out

Would have thought that was the idea. Weed out people that want to be rescued, but don't want to put anything in.

Obviously, they wouldn't be able to do the posts, so no rescue.

And what constructive posts is a crv driver to make??

It is voluntary and as no one is forced into any situation it seems to work OK

Works OK in situations where someone needs a few tools at the roadside, or get their kids taken home off a laneing trip because they broke down.

Not so OK in severe situations if someone gets hurt or their motor goes over a cliff.

Perhaps , as harsh as it sounds , that should be a parameter for getting help from LZIR? is it a LR vehicle involved?

Cheers
It ain't gonna happen though is it. I'm not coming to rescue you until you've answered 25 questions on a vehicle you don't own and I don't care what the weather's like or how dark it's getting......

No-one is responsible for “sending people out and they came back with damage or injury “
Yes they are.
The Read before posting thread could possibly do with a review from a brief. I'd be surprised if it holds any water if/when tested.
Finally, should we have even helped the OP? He was on dodgy land with very questionable permission to be there and now turns out is not insured. Not a problem for private land but why are we rocking up for this sort of thing. Im also really disappointed to hear that as well as the damage and injury, which is bad enough, that Allen is out of pocket to his mate.

If you break down in your truck, do you post on the internet, hoping that a truck enthusiast will come out and help you.

Or do you call the specialist HGV breakdown company, and pay their bill when they want paying?

Don’t go then

My point was, if it is not a vehicle produced by the LR company then it should not be entertained as being put on LZIR.

Cheers

I didnt. But I considered it when there were members on here in trouble. Trouble they wouldn't have been in if they hadn't rushed to the aid of someone they shouldn't have helped. What was the rush? Why are we even considering helping people we don't know? The professionals are there for strangers.LZIR might be better suited for LZers. Is that talking out of turn?

I can just see the headlines now :(.
“Landrover forum allowed mum and child to die, due to low post count”.
If you want that responsibility - great.
its not the forums responsibility to rescue folks so that headline would never occur, a member suffering injury or worse whilst have been asked to volunteer might produce a headline though

Nope. A valid point.
