Nice tip on the grease. I may have to strip mine down again to do this now. Don't now what line speed mine is but it is slow, my mates is really fast and takes no time at all before you're hawking him out. Me, I have time for a ****e and make dinner reservations...

yay for me, 1000 replies woop woop, thanks Ian :D

regards your winch and your mates, what are they?

it all depends on the gearbox ratio really, obviously motor rpm matters aswell but most winch motors spin at similar speeds.

i will get a video up soon of this new one spooling in 100ft of rope, and you can use it to compare times.

i'd say its around 4 times faster than my superwinch which had the 4hp motor and 215:1 gearbox IIRC. this one has the 8hp motor and 110:1 motor, thus similar stall load but considerably quicker unloaded.

the grease mod does help however, and also check your brake isnt binding, i have rebuilt my Superwinch a few times to keep it optimised :)

What superwinch is it ?

Theres a Husky on ebay I'm tempted to have a bid at! Bit further away than you but I do likes a Husky

LP10000, it's an entry level model with plenty of pull.

Husky are a great workmans winch, but death slow if i recall??

yeah real slow but they'll yank anything out! Worm driven so you can lower yourself down a hill as well as drag up it
