Cheers ice, thanks very much pal. It has to b said it is great fun working on landys, there's always something to mess about with :D

As for the x-brake Harold, check it out on X-eng High Performance Off-Road Engineering

It's basically a disc conversion for the standard drum which is usually pretty kack. It cost £252 with the VAT, not cheap, but I had to get a handbrake sorted and decided to go for the real deal.

Not difficult to fit and supplied with good instructions.

Cheers, sam

Lovely truck mate. Certainly a few things on there i'm looking to save for mine. Especially the lockers!
Quick question have you lowered your front steering arm? I have a 4" lift on my Disco and the arm between the steering box and the hub is at a much more steep angle than yours.

Chris

Hi mate

No, steering arm is stock.

Tbh mate I think my lift is between 2" and 3" with the weight of the winch and sliders etc, I'm not sure but I reckon it not that high. What you think?

Bow are you lifted 4"? How are your propshafts with that?

I wana level mine up with some Spacers on drivers side, but I was thinking of adding a bit more all round aswell and some shock droppers maybe.

Cheers :)

Well with mine we fitted 2" lifting block and replaced my knackered suspension with shocks and springs off a V8 in the scrap yard. Didn't realised until 8 month later that they were actually 2" lift aswell lol.
Prop's seem to be fine, fitted a couple of new UJ's but there were pretty knackered before the lift anyway. Find i'm killing arm bushes after about 4K miles but still running standard arms. Cranked versions with Poly's should help fix that.
Mate all Disco's lean, the higher the lift the more they lean. No idea why but everyone i've seen does it.
Next on the list for me is +5" shocks as mine keep bottoming out along with:
New sprung loaded steering damper (same as your possibly)
Poly bushes
Castor correction front arms with castor correction bushes
Double cranked rear arms
+ 100mm braided brake lines (to replace my +50mm ones)
Disolcation cones
Spring clamps and a few other bits.

How mine looks fitted with 265/75/16's

hi mate

cheers for the info/pics

looks good mate

i can see yours is indeed a bit higher than mine, the bottom of my rocksliders are about in line with the bottom of my top wheel nut, if you get me. i think yours rides about 1-1.5" higher probs.

id be good to go with some 1" spacers i reckon.

do you think my 2" goodridge lines will be ok if i add 2" droppers to 2" shocks?

if not, where are you getting 100mm lines from???

cheers mate, keep up the good work :)

Must sound great with that exhaust. De-catted mine so far, but as soon as i've got a replacement bit of pipe the massive centre section is coming out.

Tbh mate i'm not really sure, i think i am gonna need them for mine more because of the extended shocks allowing much further articulation. Mines lifted +4" with +50mm lines and there's no chance of them going tight.

Not posted updates for a little while!

So I went laning early in January and my 20 year old amstrad cb went on the blink. They don't make em like they used to!

I was pretty skint at the time cos too much driving in the snow gave me a hefty fuel bill, but I needed a radio for a laning trip end of Jan. I bought a cheap radio from Doug at KCB, a very helpful chap. It was his cheapest secondhand item in stock, and I got it for £25 delivered. It was fully working and guaranteed, but a completely rusted casing, which was quite unpleasant :(

I repainted it gave it and the mic a general service and clean up, and ended up with this:

I used it on the laning trip and it was fabulous!! Very pleased with the outcome, and it's such a small set it makes it very easy to mount in a good place. I have since bought a President Walker CB which I refurbished to use, but I'm selling it again cos I don't need the size or the features!

I'll get some fitted pics.

Cheers!

So I decided that seeing as it was so small I could mount it dash top, much easier than leaning over to the left where my other cb used to be

I stuck the radio down with 1 piece of double sided tape :) and made a little bracket for the mic mount which is now in a very ideal place. Don't even have to pick it up if im just shouting yes, no, ok etc

And the other recen addition to the car is a ProTrac light bar from MM4x4

I have always been a bit 50/50 about light bars cos I wasn't sure i liked the look of four lights, they seemed a bit too spaced out, but when I spotted this in their new items section, it was an immediate buy

It is a six lighter, the bar was 60, the lights were 35 for 6, came to just over 100 all in - which I thought was a deal, and they are wipac lights :)

All in all a good month, no particular breakages remarkably, just a bent wheel which I beat back to shape :D

Oh and I put some new fan belts on, no more squealing alternator :)

Cheers!

Nice Disco. Are these 33 or 35 inch tyres?

Hello!

So i've been a member of the forum for a while now, i've posted a fair bit, i've given some people some help, and i've taken LOADS of help from others  but i've never posted up any pics of what i've been working on since January!

So, i took a few shots at the weekend to sort that out.

Brief spec is:

'92 3.5 V8 5 Door 7 Seat Twin Sunroof.
118,000 miles.
Engine stock, apart from sealed and vented distributor, and smaller centre silencer/no rear silencer.
Transmission stock, apart from cross drilled input gear.
Twin ARB air lockers.
3" lift, on Bearmach and Procomp.
Full polybush.
Rebuilt axles, new seals/bearings throughout.
Electric fans/HD 4 row radiator.
Front arches & sills replaced, various other welding. (Boot floor patched up, realistcally needs replacing but cba)

Etc etc etc, you can see most of it anyway! :D

I'm looking forward to seeing some comments!

Are you running wheel spacers or heavily offset wheels? Looks like they stick out past the arches a bit.
