Looks fab !! Mr noisy. How easy was the access to bolts between the engine and fly housing holding the gearbox etc ?? I want to take my disco 200 out and put into my ex mod defender etc.

It wasnt easy! It was easier when I was taking the gearbox out beciasr you can drop the rear of the box right down, whereas pulling the engine is tough because the rear of the gearbox hits the floor when you drop the engine so it's very tight!!!

However, with enough access created at the top (bear in mine the v8 is void in the middle but a diesel is not!) and a mate to help guide the socket on from above it can be done. Read in Haynes the recommended method cos itll give you an idea!

Yeah I don't wanna mt gearbox. I just want the engine and transfer etc. I dunno if it is easier to put the disco on car trailer and the undo all the body bolts fuel filler pipes and un do steering column bolts and then take it to scrap metal merchant and have them use forklift to remove the body away from the chassis etc and bring back the chassis. Easier to have access the the bolts and then I can sell the axles and chassis etc

If the body is truly ****ed then it is easier to get it out of the way. But as a disco owner I must ask you not to scrap a 200 body unless it is ruined because original unaltered bodies are becoming rare.

Either way mate it's doable!

If I had more time I would do them more often I think, it's very enjoyable and rewarding work actually, so easy compared to horrible jobs lying underneath land rovers.

Never know, might get into it :)

Wow. Gleaming clean engine. I would be scared to turn the key in case of tiny oil spill !! Nive to see u using your radiator on wall to keep engine nice warm !!!

impressed with the quality of the vids you linked, and you seem almost professional in front of the camera!
nice sound, (not that i do v8's, more a diesel bloke) an only critisism would be, i think i'd be scratting round checking for leaks while running. (or get someone else checking for them)
generally tho', chuffin' well done!

Yeah youre right, shoulda made provision for a leak checker, guess I hoped my dopey brother would have done it for me I guess!

Thanks mate :)
