Plan is an r380 out of a td5 disco

This has a lower 1st ratio than my v8 lt77, but the same 5th ratio, which is lower than a v8 r380

I have a v8 input shaft kindly provided by the doc so I will eventually get round to building it! :D

Oh oh oh!

:5bdrool5::5bdrool5::5bdrool5:I need one (or 2) in my life!:5bdrool5::5bdrool5::5bdrool5:

Tis a thing of absolute beauty! :D

Only downside is it gets hidden in an axle casing. Other than that it's a win! :D

Really need to save some money now! :(

I'm thinking clear plastic diff covers :D

Hey Jimbo one thing

Are you doing your own axle casings or out-sourcing?

One thing that hugely interests me is if they could be shortened!

Yeah im sorting my own casings :) going to cut off the front of the casibg on the diff and make my own HD cover welded on :) then brackets and stuff :)

Yeah they can definately be shortened. Dave at tornado has cut and shut his it just means shortening shafts too which is the tricky bit. Id say they'd have to be tigged in a lathe but doable

Ive got a big urge now to call ashcroft and get everything ordered but don't know if im ready for a 2k hit to my bank account

That diff looks ace, those teeth!!

Any chance of a pic of the pegging? It's the first thing I'm gonna do after/during fitting the Disco engine, but probably buy a DIY kit and do it when I strip the axles ... ;)

Oh feck aye, I'd best get it out of the d2 then!

Now that's what I'm talking about!!!!!!
With regards to a perspex diff cover.. It could be done, that 3M stuff almost impossible to break!

Hi guys :)

Yeah the shafts are the problem

I wonder if you cut spline them further into the shaft and then part the end off?

Paul, gutted mate im sorry, I just finished putting it in the axle!! :(

There are various pics around online, with a diff fitted you can't see anything in there anyway :(

Go see nige/Megasquirt at Donny show, he has a few demo models cut open!

Benneh, yeah mate that's the one, but no rush, you can keep it warm for me im too poor for it just yet :p

Heres a picture of a complete axle for the hell of it :D

Not 100 % but id say the splines would be hardened so unless yoy harden the new teeth theyd probably shear preety quick.

One of my mates has cut and shut a shaft in his series with the weld near the stub so if it snpas hes not left with a stub stuck in the diff ... smart ?

what are you trying to do ?

what are you trying to do ?

i want to fit an r380 box to my car,

it must be v8 fitment

i dont want a higher 5th gear than i have already, which v8 r380s do

a td5 r380 is a late box so would lilkely be in good shape, and has a lower 1st than my current lt77 which would be ideal for getting me off the line and/or crawling off road

thought it was a pretty good plan myself :)
