BTW (if you don't mind me asking)how much does it cost from Nige? Built and pegged with an ash locker? Think it's going to be my next mod if I can stop spending money on other mods and save! :D

Many many pictures will follow :D

Prices:

Diff assembly complete 3.54 £1095

with a Ashcroft HD CW&&P + £234

total £1329 + shipping at £30 =

Grand Total £1359 EACH

So you can see why its taken a while

Nige doesn't really charge that much in fairness to him, and of course it adds up quickly.

Say 1k per diff unit best price in the world home built etc etc

You've still got £600 for shafts, £500odd for CVs, £200 for drive members.

And that's if you don't replace any other parts whilst you're there!

There's a set of newish 2522 Ashcroft cvs on ebay right now, £350

So occasionally you can get a deal.

As I'm sure y'all aware I like to do my own work but when it came to the diffs I was loading so much money into them I thought it well worth getting nige&steve to do them as they will get them just right, which is very important for a poor man like me!!

And yeah thanks

Was lucky to do well out of selling some jetskis and parts that Id been working on so that gave me a chunk of money to put into this build!

Diff specs are:

Ashlocker
Megasquirt pegged casing.
Ashcroft 4.12 HD CWP

Axle specs F&R

Ashcroft halfshafts
Original LR chrome swivel balls
24 spline steering knuckles
Ashcroft AEU2522 style CVs
10 spline stub axles & hubs running oiled wheel bearing setup
110 vented discs and Calipers
Ashcroft thick type flanges, early defender M10 fitment

Transfer case:

1.222 ratio disco case
Drilled input gear
Ashcroft ATB centre diff

Props to follow from Gwyn Lewis after some more funds collected and it's ready to Mot!

Nice !!!

Mine will be D2 axles converted to 90 raduis arms.

Ashcroft internals front and back with as lockers and pegged diffs. Probably wont bother with HD CW/P as I havemt got the power to tear the teeth off and standard ones are preety strong tbh

Borg warner TB (awesome)

Custom props

I'm gonna have to start saving! :D

Gotta be better than the stock running gear though so definitely worth it imo ;)

Still is gonna be a bit of an animal running front and rear lockers!

I'm guessing the 4.1 diff ratio is because of the tyre size your running? If so may have to go the same route as I'm well overgeared atm with 33's.

D2 axles were on the teetering point for me but once it was discovered that Teflon swivel balls have been proven to be weak I found some mint chromies and have fitted those so all good

Was a bit meh about the PCD and the width!

Yeah if you peg CWP you get pretty much all the strength you need, after all most problems are pinion walk.

I don't know what the ratios are on the BW box, I like the viscous but dislike the lack of locking

Discuss! :)

Yeah mate it's such a dear do.

Problem is stock diffs are laughable and then when you fit an unbreakable diff you break shafts and so on and so on

As such im certain my gearbox will take a pasting now :(

I've run lockers for years on 10 spline which tbh were admirable so when I had a breakage I already knew it was worth the cost of upgrading properly.

Yes 4.12 adjusts the ratio. I was running a 1.410 transfer box on 3.54 diffs but of course that only adjusts your high range whereas final drive does everything do I picked up a lovely G suffix lt230 out of a disco to rebuild for this build

But yeah in the short term I would defo recommend a 1.410 box, you'll love it!
