Hi,

I am doing a full restoration on my series 2A - I am having the diff casings overhauled. I have stripped them and my friend has lightly blasted and where the main brace and short brace where situated the area has corroded (on the diff casing - to the point where there are now two small holes). The rest seems perfectly fine. Is this something that can be welded back up and just order the casing required?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kindest regards,
Tony.

HI, yes the pans were very rusty so I took them off. but underneath was also rusted because dirt etc was not able to come out.
so there are two small holes in the casing and was just trying to find out if you can weld the casing or not?
then just order new pans to go on.

yes you can

I take its a mil axle with the reinforcement. If so then you may have to cut the reinforcement off, weld the casing up, then weld the reinforcement back on. Some people put new reinforcement on as its pretty much a strip of angle. Not a difficult job.
