Hi all,

Developed a rubbing noise on the right hand side while turning with full lock, it's like a scoring sound of metal rubbing but is very faint, it defiantly is not the tire rubbing the arch, e.t.c but cannot see anything wrong, anybody any ideas??

Also have noticed when reversing e.t.c straightening up after using full lock there is a distinctive click/clunk when I straighten out, noticed this parking in car parks the past few days, any one any ideas on this?

Thanks Chris

Sounds like your VCU is starting to seize up. Do a search on VCU. It is a common thing, just wear an tear I'm afraid.

would agree, search for how to test your vcu, wouldn't be driving until you had checked as the damaged caused can be quite severe

Searches it just now, no real definitive test according to the top 3 search results, saying this the noise seems to come from the front axle and not so much the vcu unit itself, cars 81000 on the clock and would be due replacing If not done before I purchased,

sticky at top of the page on VCU torque test results gives you a link to a way of testing it, while some debate has been had on the merits of the test it's the best we seem to have for now and will give you an indication of your VCU health, a naffed VCU can cause major damage to the whole drive train both front (IRD) and rear (DIFF)

Solved the grinding noise, brake disc cover at the back is rusted and was rubbing the brake disc, pulled it off the disc, as to the clunk still unresolved, clunk definitely is coming from the front passenger wheel,

5 pound of petrol and a box of matches please? ;)
