wish i could find some peeps up here :(.

It's hard to find folk with Land Rovers that are not in bits :(

Don't worry though, I should be back up and running soon enough if you fancies a run out into the wild west of Hampshire :)

I do need a local buddy for lane recon, I am well prepped enough with enough gear and some sort of an idea, but it's certainly safer to go out in pairs ;)

I am thinking that I might start mid week laning in the summer to avoid the bobblies ;) (good for retired folks like yourself to save you from daytime TV :p)

I know, I actually still feel guilty that I cut one up several years ago :(

It's not a bad thread is it, some useless info in here for peeps to see ;)

Ahh atleast its parts went to a good cause!! :)

I've been after a 2.0mpi for a good few months now..

Almost won one in october but the owner dropped the ad just minutes before the ebay auction ended!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Still a great thread though!!

Don't think i have the balls to cut and weld a car to this extent though :D

I've been hacking stuff to bits and fabricobbling it back together for years :)

I've got some chassis to weld when I do the other side :(

Well further to my 12V compressor fred I stumped up and bought a BritPart twin cylinder HD 150psi 150L/min pump and it's certainly of decent quality and should be fine with that 24 month warranty too :)

Big croc clamps for the battery and it's even fused with an inline fuse too :)

I have also decided that, post weldathon, to build in an on board air system so that I can have simple ease of use and air supplies front and rear from a small and lightweight air receiver, I was looking at truck tanks and was trying to get an ally tank but they wanted far more than I was willing to pay and an eBay hunt began and saw me settle for an equally lightweight ally tank but this time from an Audi Q7 with air suspension, should be perfect :)

I know that there are kits readily available from Matt Savage 4X4 and such https://mattsavage.com/ but my budget won't stretch that far :(

Bit busy today but I should be out there getting my freak on with the welder tomorrow :)

I thought I heard Bacon frying....
No it's @dieseldog69 @resto_d1
Welding away.
One of them must have ran out of gas/metal/wire
Weather looks good for the next few days
I've had a work related project to weld up first thing but after lunch I was able to get on with the Disco

Ran out of wire and only just made it to get some more!!! I did waste 45 minutes pulling my stores apart as I was certain I had a spare, turns out it was an old reel of flux core that I have had kicking around since I lived in Belgium

Just finished up now, one side is now 100% complete all bar the rear body mount as it hasn't arrived yet, I'll probably wait until the body mount is all on and painted before I put the rear quarter panel back on :)

I managed to set myself on fire a few times too but nothing serious, saves me waxing my fore arms for a while :D

I chopped a chunk out and wacked deox on the inner then I put seam sealer everywhere as knew it would dry. I Was going to weld it up but wasn't very up for it and didn't get back till gone 2 from t'north. I've smashed my phone up so no pics until I start new job or take my iPad out to get some lol.

LOL

I was sure I had taken more photo's but these are all I have

Love these welding clamps, such useful things and the multi pack of clamps seems to have provided one for everything :)

It seems the gap was bigger than I thought in places but the filler rod did the trick.

It "was" part of the plan to just do inch long stitches every 2 inches or so but I wound up just seam welding it along the entire length top and bottom all the way along, most likely the reason why I didn't get much done, spent too long burning wire and wasting gas

The Tiger seal is stickier than dog sh1t and it gets everywhere including your hair, I currently stink of white spirit and this is after having already been through the bath :(

I did the same to be fair - it pulls it all up tight anyway doesn't it. Yeah this sealant is the same. I bought a pack of nozzles with it as there's no point even trying to use same nozzle twice lol
