I would just like to say that a set of 4 33X12.5X15 wheels and tyres are a tight fit in the back of a Peugeot 206 :D

Ok, I will admit that there was a slight bit of overhang and that the boot door needed tied down

Only had to deflate one tyre to squish it in but we made it home in the foggy roads through the South Downs :)

Compared one quickly next to a 235/85 r16 and they're massive

@resto_d1 I will put the Coopers in my storage locker ready for when ever you want them.

It's a 3.9 V8 auto converted 90, proper job he made of it too, I had the pleasure of a ride around the town in it, mini rocket ship it is :) Light weight engine with big power and torque for such a light little Land Rover

If I had the space I would probably own about 5 Land Rovers :D
dont fixing up other peeps keep yu occupied enuf? ;)

Not really, it's the lack of dry work space that's holding me back in life, if I had a decent 30sq meter workshop I would never be in the house after work ;)

I would be too busy doing pick up conversions on P38s and engine conversions on series to sit in front of the telly lol

A 30 sq metre workshop is an easy problem to overcome. It’s the 30k a year in rent that is the problem .

Yu may not have a family either :p

Been toiling with compressor options since I realised how much air these tyres will take when airing back up from the 18~22psi I like to run off road.

https://mattsavage.com/ does some amazing onboard air systems and the very best HD 12 volt compressors from Viair but they come with big price tags too :(

https://www.mm-4x4.com/t-max---air-compressor---72-litres-per-min---ba-2641-2422-p.asp The T-Max comes in way cheaper and seems to have a great following and user base.

Or there are thousands of budget brands to choose from in the £30 and under price range, ultimately I want to get the best I can afford and to buy it once and make a decent job of getting it installed in the Rusty one.

I saw this on Amazon and was highly tempted! Amazon product

Time enough to worry about that, still need to get out there and blaze a bit more of it back together lol

its a long way from most ,hence property opportunities though that is quickly changing
no, they are extremely helpful to those that other mutual respect

We were in March, Cambs last weekend, quite shocking how fast Huntingdon, St. Ives and such have changed in the last 20yrs, March was an especially quaint and rural/agricultural place when I first went there in the 90s, by golly has it changed as have several other once quaint places I used to pass through.

I have never been against progress but Jesus H Christ this expansion of villages into towns and towns into cities has to stop somewhere before we end up with crappy urban sprawl everywhere and nothing noteworthy about anywhere in particular.

It does. The more it spreads the further I will move out away from it. Selfishly and hopefully we won't see this in our lifetime!

I'm 40, I've seen the virtual joining, all bar a grass field, of several villages to their once nearby and now on their doorstep towns, many are there now, literally a verge, if you will, separates them for reasons of house pricing as the once rural village name and high end price for the post code have to stay that way so that the prices don't drop when they suddenly realise exactly how close to the urban sprawl they have moved to.

Sadly I've also watched many small villages get a massive modern housing estate bolted on the side of them that is often 2 or 3 times the original village housing number, Romsey in Hampshire is a prime example, I saw a big estate finished and started 2 new ones within a year and as I rocked up at a new site I passed a third starting a field apart from the other estate to maintain the prices but far enough away not to be counted as a Romsey for housing control purposes.

We're getting another 450+ houses on the island within the next 5yrs on top of the 150+ we've had in the last 3yrs built and that's not including the house conversions into flats for the extra wedge o_O

Just up the road from Portsmouth on the outskirts of Whitley they are going to be blessed with a whole new development of 5000 houses and that's not including surrent developments underway, truly shocking.

I'm going to swap the wheels over and have the nuts

But now I'm beginning to wonder if it might be a good idea to fit new studs at the same time, after all, the ones fitted now are circa 1998 and have seen a good bit of abuse, might be good to start a fresh with the new wheel and tyre combination.

We'll see, still gotta get it welded up yet but it is well worth a second thought.

Busy day today.

The rot was a lot more serious in that rear body mount than I had realised :(

Ended up looking like this by the time I finished cutting it out

Got the side panel and wheel tub partially welded in too.

IMG_20190217_174651.jpg

Tacked in at the back

IMG_20190217_174714.jpg

And the tub tacked at the top for now

IMG_20190217_174658.jpg

Ran out of time but not much left to get this side done completely.

Need to find some 5 or 6mm square section to use as a filler/strengthening bar for the wheel tub.

IMG_20190217_174741.jpg

I already cut the filler plate for the rear quarter and it just needs drilled and spot welded into the panel and seam welded into the floor panel.
