My thread will get going my next week, once back from newcastle, still wrangling them bastid gear box bolts!

Gearbox to bellhousing ? I've been struggling with prop bolts today! They're bastards, have fun with them when you get round to the front axle diff end ones :p

As to gearbox bolts if you can get a flexi ratchet in there that might work ? For min I just ripped the bulkhead apart but its not a fancy disco :D

Cheers everyone still got a long way to go yet!

Anyway on with todays progress.

Managed to get the second coat of primer on today and it looks even better than it did yesterday.
Cant wait to get the top coat on!

The rest of the day involved being very destructive! :D

Doors off.

And then left it at that as ive gotta go to work at 6pm:(

Hopefully should be back with more next weekend as im on 12 hour nights this week so wont get a chance to do much:eek:

just so i get this straight, youve got a v8 chassis which youre refurbing, then fitting it up with your refurbed engine/box etc and then dropping your refurbed body onto it?

refurbed axles or using yours off tdi engine?

Yep pretty much got it in one!

Will be refurbing the axles that come with the v8.

Im keeping the axles off the tdi chassis for the next project.:D

Small update.

Had a few hours to kill this afternoon so got on and got the n/s rear quarter panel off. I honestly thought it was gonna be as easy as the other side but turned out it wasnt:mad:

I love to slap the knobhead who sealed this panel on! :violent:

Got it off in the end though after lots of swearing and perseverance.

Just incase your wondering yes those are the door in the back in the second picture. I have no room in the garage or my annex to put em:eek:

Also removed the alpine windows and started removing the sunroof but some dosey sod (i.e me!) sealed them up extremely well with tiger seal!

And i suppose i should mention the fact im now bob tailing it!

Noooooo how can you bobtail that beautiful chassis!!

That easy cut it!

To be fair though it will be a feck lot easier to mod the chassis as it sits now plus i dont mind a bit more work.

And dont worry im not chequer plating over the welds cos it looks pants! A mate of mine is a tig welder and hes got a portable tig set so hes gonna do it for me. And let me have a go too!

The body panels will be welded and then finished properly. ;)

Looking great mate..

Is the rust under the alpines down to leaking sunrooof or down to the alpines themselves do you think?

Not sure tbh. Could be a combination of both leaking. As both were. Hence the amount of tiger seal in the sunroof  either way both of the sunroofs and alpines are getting welded up completely.

Awww I'm a bobtail anti cos I like the shape of the disco in full fat mode, but hey, it'll make for a great build either way, look forward to it even more now tbh!

I was anti bobtail also but done properly they look good. :p

Plus as its gonna mainly be a pay and play toy with a little bit of commuting thrown in theres way too much rear overhang! So its being removed.

Hopefully will start chopping tbe arse end off this weekend. :D
