its supposed to be a rough ride! it has cart springs on it! (that are probably seized)
save the money for more needed stuff, they can be changed later fairly easily.

just get the bulkhead off, you can skin your knuckles on the springs while i scratch me head with the bulkhead.

just a little bit closer to taking the bulkhead off, quiet a productive day today even tho it was raining and ficking cold and had no one to make me cuppas.... bits off, bit of power hosing, some sanding and scraping and emptying the vehicle and storing in my secure lock up in the rear garden.......

Your brakes working OK now?

I've got mine to overhaul, if you've got a load of surplus bits I may be interested in buying it off you!

well i bought full set front and rear with cylinders, the brakes were working ok before and they do seem to be ok, i am not sure if to put the new ones on or leave them alone, either way i sure we could come up with something for you max..
i wouldnt say i got loads done ukakita, but it has been quiet a productive day.. wont get much done tomorrow maybe a full day friday and half day sat... hows yours coming on, lets see some more pics..... you need to get working on her ready for us all meeting up in the summer at one of the shows.....

comin on.
the steering box will cause you to swear. first off, the drop arm has to come off, which will be the hardest bit. i have a puller for this if you need, dont split the rod end hoping the drop arm will come thru the bulkhead bracket as you cant get the angle on it to get it out.
there's 4 bolts that hold the box onto the bracket, a clamp on the coloumn, and a bracket that holds the clamp.
dont forget to remove the steering wheel!
if you cant remove the drop arm, split the rod end i said dont, then remove the bulkhead bracket from chassis and footwell. then we'll try and get the drop arm off if needed.

if the brakes look ok, i'd reuse and keep the new uns as spares.

Oh the wonders of stripping a series down! Remember doing mine last May, took about half a week I think for a rolling chassis. Then the fun of putting her back together again...Still not finished! Though nearly there, just a few bits and bobs to do along with a re-wire and we should be MOT'ing.

Best of Luck, take hundreds of photos of breaking her down - you never have enough - believe me. Reference the steering box, best bet is too remove chassis to bulkhead bracket from chassis & bulkhead, will just dangle on drop arm linkage, and can just be moved round the arm till its off. Then the fun off cracking your drop arm off the box starts! but much easier to do that on the bench than on the vehicle. Are you doing any work to the box or just taking it off to work on the bulkhead?

Matt

yes niel you have to get the 109 done....... lol .....
this steering seems like a right pain in the arse to do.... will have a go and see where it gets me...... if problems maybe a cuppa and biscuits niel???????????????
mlang..... not sure what i am going to do until its off... then if it needs work i will do it if not a sand and paint etc will be as far as i go............ looking at doing most of the seals throughout the beast

still ****ing about with all these bolts and then trying to find where i put the spanner.... plus i forgot to mention the different size nuts, bolts and screws holding it together....
delaying attacking the steering arm as i really not sure what i am doing there... sprayed as many bolts with wd as i could find a few times ready to attack it tomorrow so niel can have a good look at it....
going to start some sanding of body parts and undercoating them while i decide what colour.... then new seals and back together so it will be harder for the gypo;s to nick

erm, whats under the chequer plate on the rear crossmember??

on the plus side, ive started cleaning the workshop to get a bit more room.
AND the ldv's going on saturday! yayhey!

its solid under the chequer neil, does that mean i wont have a solid workshop to hide my stuff in now the ldv is going.... shame but never mind i can look out for some more like it around on ebay or something......
i am not too convinced about this steering arm (but going to attempt it)... wont get anything done tomorrow as going to leeds for the welder.
hopefully sunday it will be off and i will start to get it back to bare metal (or thin air as the case maybe)........

if it proves stubburn, leave it on. unbolt the bulkhead bracket from the chassis and split the linkage either on the ball joint below, ball joint on steering relay arm, or remove the arm from the top of the relay. I'll take it off when i get it.
will be at shop best part of tomorrow if you fancy a detour with the welder, dont know your transport arrangements.
ldv going about 3 ish so will possibly be out for half an hour if the other lad aint keen on towing it. sorry that one didnt work out!
on the phone if needed for owt!
