Not having a jockey wheel on the front is a tad problematic now so I took the old one apart today and am in the process of tarting it up along with knocking up a proper adapter plate for it. It was held on with a bent piece of box section when I stripped it.
It may not be a permanent fix but will do for now while I shunt it round the lockup.
Then I can finally finish the chassis and complete painting it.

Chassis ;)

being bare steel primer then some sort of chassis black?
I used HMG high ally two pack primer after a soak in Fertan. Even freshly flapped steel holds nasties. Its then having a couple of coats of Tractol type paint. The only addition is a cup full of lead oxide per liter. Naturally this is highly illegal but essential if pulled over by VOSA when the inspector will die if hitting it with anything bigger than a toffee hammer whilst checking for rot. I have also applied seam sealer to all welds. Stick welding can hold lots of nasties just waiting for a splash of salt to burst into lumps of red crusty snot.

The 1970s jockey wheel was originally galvanised so I wire wheeled it and opted for a generous squirt of pound shop hammerite.

Finally getting there but going is slow.
I think all the welding is done but I have to attach some sort of feet on the front at some point. Should have all the bare bits primed tomorrow

My next mission will be finding out what thread is on the grease nipples. I’m going to replace them all so need about ten of the little monkeys. Looks like I’ll have to take one down to my local pernewmatical place and see if they can match them.

Playing with the brakes this week. I’m not sure they have been applied in the last twenty years so things was a tad knacked to say the least.
Now it took me two weeks to get the first wheel off  and I hadn’t bothered with the second for this reason. The series 1 style hubs have screw in studs so they try unscrewing when jumping all over the seized nuts. This wrecks the thread :(.
I began by welding up the studs from the back as last time with uge delightful splodges of molten metal and then the boy racer next door stuck his huge great dugger dugger on em and within seconds they wuz oft :).
I really need han uge impact wrench :(.
