What does the gigglepin truck have in ? I'm pretty sure is a 5ltr but not sure what

Yeah it's a big motor, Nige of Megasquirt fame runs a 5.2 JE which makes 340 odd bhp and pant browning amounts of torque, but he struggles horrendously to keep it cool, having just spent I reckon the best part of 1k on a custom radiator!

I've done some reading up and it's a rover 5ltr apparently dunno any more though.

I can imagine ! Watching the race to recovery Dakar show seeing how much trouble they had its not surprising! 1 big problem with a v8 really is. Keeping it cool

Just about to get started on tinkering today, should i/ do i have to remove the rad to get engine out? gonna get it ready to lift out for next weekend :)

Update, got all exhaust bolts out finally! Along with gearbox! And all pipe work and radiator out. last few parts to do before engine out, torque convertor bolts and starter motor. Will do that tomorrow and hopefully get engine out next weekend!

Only did a few little jobs today, got the mini fuel tank off, Managed to get the bolts holding the pump in off they where completely shot, need a new fuel pump as the return and fuel out pipes a rusted and broken :( need to clean the tank up inside and out and run new fuel lines aswell the list keeps getting longer

Advice needed, starting to order parts, ARP head bolts and main bearing. Is it worth spend ing the £106 for main bearing and £170 for head? Any one got a opinion? intending to keep the v8 for a long time got a good insurance quote today and all!

Will work out finances tomorrow, may wait until i get the crank and block into machine shop, as if they need doing may not have enough £ left want it back on road by august. Abit optimistic but recon if no big problems its possible

I would say head studs more important than main cap bolts.

ANY engine can have head gasket trouble, only the big power motors need to watch out for the bottom end.

True say, gonna get it all checked out if kitty allows for it heads take priority

I went for ARP stud kits for heads and mains and ARP bolt kit for big ends too- I thought what the hell once I have paid this much lol.

Funny though because I was reading the manual for mine and it says you can re-use the bolts for all of it up to 3 times and after that no more, but I know mine has been apart at least once, maybe more so I wont take the chance

Spoke to my machine shop, he wants £28.50 to do the crank, ad will check all the bores for free! He said for heads he would strip clean and re grid and polish for £320 +VAT

Quick update, got the longer bolts today! all bolt undone after many hours of swearing and such, ready to be lifted out tomorrow! lots of pics of engine bits n pieces to come soon :)
