It looks pretty simple tbh, mount it so wont move ontop of the valve and turn it until its at top of its swing and lock?

yeah but then can be tricky to set up and you still need the degrees sorting, I saw him do it on a 4x4 is born and didnt fancy it. I am doing my engine for enjoyment so I wont go where I dont want to. I went with the top of the line jp billet duplex timing set but chose the non adjustable one and a cam with 0.27 lift so I dont have to change the springs either

FINALLY ITS ON THE ENGINE STAND!!!! You cant understand how happy i was when i got it on!

No sign of any liner slip on it, they all sit flush with the block. Ran my hand over all of them felt flat as a pan!

Span over the engine, cracked off all the bolts, damnn there on tight took a 2ft breaker bar with a trampoline pole about 1.5 meters long!

Hoping to get cylinders out tomorrow and crank if i have time or that can wait until sunday :)

Looks good so far! Whay happened to the disco bonnet?

Cheers, yeah the bonnet, basically i broke a discovery had a guy who wanted the bonnet as he had done that to his, but i was planning on keeping the bonnet as a sledge for winter, so said id wanna take his so swoped them over and as i had that laying about, took mine off and put in a safe place and just placed the batterd one ontop to keep water out engine bay ;)

just one question, why did you take the engine to bits so much before you took it out? :)

Good question, i had time before engine hoist was sorted so thought i would get cracking on whatever i could whilst it was in there

Done lots today!

Front cover off after wrestling with some rounded bolts, whiped out the irwin sockets and impact gun and they all came out eventually!
Play in timing chain, not as bad as i was expecting to be honest but still no good!

Then i started removing pistons, not much to say on that appart from my ingenious idea how to store them

Heres some of the crank, not sure how its supposed to look, but looks okay to me cant feel any lips on them.

Took cam shaft out aswell, no pics sorry will get some tomorrow, few of the lobes are almost squared with right angles on them, exaggerating but there are some sharpish angles on a few of the lobes! just got the block and bearings and the flywheel end to get off before crank comes out, any advice?
