Tis 1 1/2 hours south of Bristol and no facilities.....unless you include the sheep which I'd rather you didn't

ok,i thought it was near where you are.no to the sheep thanks, although a certain person might be interested in them.:jaw::bolt::behindsofa:

The geographical centre of britain (not sure about the islands though...) is around Ilkley.

Or appn we could have a northern meet and a southern meet and then join up somewhere around Stamford Bridge and have a scrap and sort out who's the best once and for all...
:mil7::mil7::mil7:

I'm sure its been done in the past sometime... :confused2::confused2:

LOL at Ilkley, they wouldn't like an event like this at all :eek::eek: I know I lived there till recently :D

What about the Great Yorkshire Showground, plenty of facilities and parking and camping for large numbers. They had the Landy show there this year so must be OK with them. There was also an off road course as part of the event. Not that far from Tong either. Lots of hotels in the area and plenty of laning in the Dales or North York moors :D

I'm a member of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society which owns it, don't think it will count for much though, I only join to get cheap stabling and entry fees for the Great Yorkshire :D:D

Maybe we could piggy back on the ice-cream expo :D

Being a member could be a better way in than being a mod of a forum with an inexplicably tarnished reputation :eek:

what about doing it the same time as the wedding fare, give Ratty a few ideas for his.:D:D

you bloody heathen.Black puddings made in bury lancs are the best in the world.anything else is a poor imitation.:mooning::behindsofa::focus:

We will have a comparison then ;)

Being that no matter where it is, most people are going to have to travel a fair distance anyway, would probably be best to go for a location that offers the best things, facilities, off road course, options for entertainment etc. I'd happily travel far south for good event rather than a not so good location that is closer.

sue, what you waiting for,get in touch with them and see if they are amenable with this idea.

OK I rang them, they are not totally against the idea, although apparently they had some problems with the Landy Show last year

They don't have availability in April but there is some in March and May.

They need to know how much space etc before quoting any prices.

Probably going to be rather expensive though

Looks good or Frickley as they have a seperate course reserved for club and corporate use with proper camping/showers and accomodation.....but I can't even get a reply from them :(

That Frickley course is really good... worth persuing! (route from camping to site is all off road too so it can result in drunken off-roading... which results in being over ambitious...

Think he was bumping the thread back up as it wasn't a sticky at that point.

yeah... i might have got that  doesn't stop me being immature everytime someone bumps something though :p

From what I can tell via the net Frickley hits the spot for me to.

Someone must have a connection?

OK, only other thought was Arena UK in Lincolnshire. And yes another horse venue, but they tend to have space, camping facilities and catering/bars.

I have also rung them, they are fine with a Landy event, will need to think about what is needed, numbers etc etc. There is a Travelodge and a B&B in walking distance (I have stayed in both) Plenty of hard standing, restaurant, snackbars and bars (if required) they can quote for the site or just a price per person.

Easy access from North and South as its about half a mile from the A1

Not too far from the Peaks or from Doncaster for off roading.

Not perfect but an option. They have a weekend in April free, if its then we want

Trade Fairs/Products - Arena UK

I'd be up for somewhere like Lincs showground/arriget - anywhere within about an hour...
Can we have Lincs on a weekday when there'll be some flying from Scampton or Waddo please... I know I'm not the only 'plane spotter on here :)

Oooo thats just up the road from where I picked up Florrie :D

Sounds like a possibility. I had thought that before easter (18th-21st April) might be best before the season opens properly (cheaper) but thats just me, there's not been much discussion about that.
