Hi All, I lost a bag last week with the key fob & louse key attached.
Does anyone know if there is a fuse (or some other wizardry) that when removed will prevent starting and driven away, despite having been opened as normal.
Have been told new key could be 4 - 6 weeks, have already changed house lock but fingers crossed it cannot be traced back to home.
Any help / suggestions would be very welcome.
Regards Mick

Hi

Sorry to hear about the key

What engine have u got please, ur is the 8 x speed isn’t it plse , along with the keyless entry

Thks

Oh Heck, only just realised it's a D4. So I have no advice really other than to look in the handbook, if you can get at it, or indeed get the bonnet open! Others like @gstuart will be a lot more help. I stop at D2s and am not the world's best on them!

Lol, will be easiest if indeed the op can’t manage the battery , is to pull fuse 1 in the engine bay , fuse is for fuel pump :D

Ah! now that does sound fairly simple, and I'm sure any potential thief would want to be in and gone instantly, good overnight one, I'll double check in the book. Thanks very much for that advice.

Can you not get your dealer to plug in to diagnostics and disable/remove the lost key from the car system. Even when you get your new key the lost key will still be out there.

Is that doable with Gap? @gstuart .

How do you lose a what kind of bag? Also don't you have a spare key? Keep your keys in your trouser pockets. It really amazes me about people losing there keys

I young and 6’ 1 and lifting a battery out of the L322 is not an easy task I would think the D4 to be in a similar place.

are you for real? where is the battery located? How big is the darn thing?
I'm 69 and able to lift 1100 amp battery's out of my old truck which the engine bay is 5' from the ground

Bet yours is right up front and nothing else to take off first:)

I am just saying it’s not easy especially every night and then you have to do it properly and then the reconnect in the morning.
There are better/easier ways rather than knackering your back every day:D

U really need the new key , so that when it’s programmed it will over write any existing keys

Plus there is a limit of how many times u can reprogram a key

U don’t want to leave a vehicle with no key programmed into it, as if does get nicked the ins company will refuse to pay out as u left the vehicles security completely open
