Well, mines an oldie.D1.But its got considerably less gadgets, sensors and other gowrongables to worry about. It also looks the part/more capable than more modern gear.Just dont like the look of newer stuff.
Even though i`ve had mine four years, i`ll still stop and stare at it sometimes.Awesome.
Chugging about off road, runs to the tip, carrying shed loads of gear.Smug look on my face when i pick up a large item from currys and dont need to pay delivery, shipping family about in comfort.Whats not to like.
I would never have afforded it new, but the owner from new likely never off roaded it.Now in its twilight years it gets loads of what its built for.
At some point i want a tax exempt series vehicle, but there`ll always be a place for my disco.
Couldn't have put it betterer meself. I thinks the same about me Freelander. But ah dun't wan't a series. :D

Always had a bit of a hankering for an old series since Father in law picked one up a few years ago.Agricultural as it gets,i love just being in it for the character of it.
If i get one it will be mostly for `rough`.Wife wont want to be in it, thats why it will need to be tax free. Dont want to be taxing another toy.

Being a former Freelander owner I like both motors, can't say about Range rovers or Defenders as never really delt with any I suppose nearest to a Defender is my 1970 series 2a

Freelander was built to try and get in the Estate car market so I read somewhere howtrue I dunno The only downside of the Freelander for me was ground Clearence when offroading and I needed to tow some trailers about for a friend and some were to heavey for the Freelander

that why I got the D2 TD5

probley have anther Freelander deepends whats about when i'm looking

I got my disco for 1 reason and 1 reason only, its cheap!! Prob the best cheap off roader there is goin, mine cost £1200 plus I have spent about that again on the suspension/tyres plus a little bit on protection for underneath. It goes everywhere that any other 4x4 will go, infact its been very impressive and has shown up alot of other higly modded vehicles in its capabilities...

I bought mine because it was local, cheap,i knew the owner and i was to lazy to travel looking for a Range Rover (which is what i wanted)

Another **** ****ing poll! d1 and d2's are in my eyes the most practical landrover. you can take family out including dogs, all in comfort, chuck whatever u want in its spacious boot. tow caravan, trailer, offroader etc. i wouldnt buy a rangey coz there to up market and to expensive and not summet ud put 3 working dogs in boot and few dead bunnys. cant do none of this in a gaylander coz there just a car with 4wd that sometimes works and a lot of the time brakes. so stop trying to make ur self feel better hoping that someone will slag d1's and d2's off and get a fekkin life. and if u say ur doing this for fun then where's the fun in this??

Am I the only one who actually likes Freelanders? sure they're not a Disco or a Fender in the muck but they're not exactly an x5 either, they're pretty good for what they are and they helped make Landrover a profitable and attractive business - so much so that Tata bought them and they're now one of the most desireable brands around. I even like the Evoque, I'd be interested to see what one could do offroad with some decent tyres. I'd like an RR Sport, again with some sensible sized wheels, a winch and some chunky tyres, I think it's an astonishing vehicle - it takes the SUV fight to the X5 yet still does what a landrover does offroad. Pity they're generally purchased by yuppies!
However, as I can only afford 1k on an offfroader, not 100k I'll stick with (and be happy with) my D1.

I fink disco2shorn has lost his sense of humour, he should fit in well in the freelander section, eh Hippo?

Even the Freelander owners int that sensitive. E'd never last in the Freelander section wiv all the feedback we get. E's either having a bad hair day, smudged his eye liner or broke'd a nail again. Not to worry. I've just ordered him a gift voucher. :D

Wow what's all the bitching about. Discos are all of the above in the poll. And why is this up again thought your world toure was over hippo mate. Or is it like the forth rail bridge once you get to the end you start over again :D

Someone must have answered the poll and it appeared from the deep dark depths. Me round the world tour finished some time ago. It seems all LR products have the same faults, but not series as they have no lectrics. Where one perticular model may have a more popular problem than others, the others make up for it wiv other problems.

Am shorry to break the news but they stopped painting the forth bridge recently. That dun't mean yer don't need to stop waxolying yer disco monthly. :) I did ma hippo last year. Second time since it were done 5 years ago. :D
