...that this arvo was a bit of a bust. I forgot I still had to load the sacks of garden rubbish from the garden to the front of the house where we keep the Disco, I started on it but realised I was leaving it a bit late for Santander, so stopped, got changed and into the Pluriel and set off....

Flipping heck it took SO long to go such a short distance. I got there before 3:00 pm but just too late to find parking in that snotty little town. So, swore a lot, turned round and came back. you'd think I'd know as I would if I had to get to other places round here on time but I never go there for owt except when we used to shop in Waitrose, which has a car park and obvs don't need to be there for a time.

Changed, loaded all the sacks into the Disco which will pong rather by morning.:( and then had a look at the lovely Bosch mulcher. As happens with me, I managed to fix it without knowing how. Although I now have to push the on-off switch hard in to keep it in place and make it work. Never mind I should be able to accomplish both early tomoz.

Sossidges for dins, once I've got em cooking! Yum!;)

Have a good evening folks!!:):):)

There's no good news coming from here at the moment, the demolition has commenced on our neighbour's house

I had hoped that they'd be stored on the SIM in some way, but they wasn't.
I'm sure you know a way of doing things like this .....
But me no techno savvy, Massa!
Usually when you save a new contact it should give you the choice of saving them on the phone or on the SIM. Maybe you have a default setting somewhere on the phone which will automatically save it to one or the other location, if so it should be possible to change it or set it to 'always ask'.

I always save contacts to the SIM, then when moving the SIM to a new phone there is nothing to do on that front.

I did think that.
Today or yesterday I looked for this option on the phone and couldn't find it.
Doesn't mean it isn't there though.
i also tried to delete contacts and couldn't do that either, all I could do was delete bits of them via "edit"..

Trying to sort out a new mobile.
It's like looking for an insect in the jungle.
Total pain in the rear.
It depends what you want/need to do, most fairly basic phones are fine for most things.

I always choose Samsung simply because we've had them repeatedly for some time and have been happy with them. Also we always pick dual SIM phones because we have quite a few numbers and don't want to carry loads of phones, e.g. this phone I am using now has 4 numbers which come through to it, 2 mobile numbers (2 SIMs), a landline number via Skype and a premium rate number which diverts to one of the mobiles.

Have just bought a new phone in fact, which was a Samsung A05s, fairly low down the range and not expensive, there's no need for the latest Galaxy S25 costing a grand or so.

Being retired we neither of us need to worry too much about phones. We can always use the landline and the computer or iPad via Wi-fi. But I do appreciate that those who work or are out and about a lot feel more need for more complexity.

In my research I was surprised to find that iPhone and Samsung dominate the market so nearly completely.
My problem is the enormous range, even at the bottom of the price level, which is all I am looking at. It makes me feel like just sticking a pin in a list blindfold. So many seem to do exactly the same thing. And they all do far more than I need. As you said.
I also don't understand why so many make such a feature of being unlocked. As far as I know, ever since the new rule, all new ones have to be unlocked, so why vaunt it?
I'll get there in the end and I daresay it'll end up being a bottom of the range Samsung.

I've had a look through all the settings and can't find anything at all for changing where contacts are saved to. I assumed it would be possible, maybe some phones give you a choice and some don't.

Re. phones being unlocked, I think if you get a phone from an airtime provider on contract the phone is still locked to that company. If you buy your own it is unlocked although as you say if that's the standard why put it front and centre of marketing. Maybe its just for the avoidance of doubt.

I have given yer examples of samsung fones to buy. All from argos so easily available. Problem is yer dunt want to spend yer sovs. Yer may fink yer dunt need it on the move but there will be a day whennit happens and yer stuck. Nearly all fones are smart fones these days. Touch screen control wiv cameras and sbility to watch tv and connect to the intrrnet. There's opa fones wiv less functions but no need fer that.

Historically fones were often locked to a network provider so they could try to keep yer business. Fer 10 sovs a shop will unlock it so never a problem.

When creating a contact it should offer the option of saving to sim or phone. Mine are saved to phoned. Eye has options to take a backup of them. Recently when me wuks fone got replaced eye connected them togeffer wiv a cable and one sent all its details to the other. Settings, apps, contacts, text messages, pic's, vid's. If yer dun't havva cable yer can do it by magic frew the air. Fings like this is easy wiv a smart fone.

Morning All. :D
Son is stuck in America as his plane was diverted mid-flight and returned to the USA because of the Heathrow shutdown. :(
Means more trouble for us. Get rid of the kids this morning and now 2 trips to his house to feed & water his cats.
At least they are safe. :)
Have a good day. :D
