Usually when you save a new contact it should give you the choice of saving them on the phone or on the SIM. Maybe you have a default setting somewhere on the phone which will automatically save it to one or the other location, if so it should be possible to change it or set it to 'always ask'.I had hoped that they'd be stored on the SIM in some way, but they wasn't.
I'm sure you know a way of doing things like this .....
But me no techno savvy, Massa!
I did think that.Usually when you save a new contact it should give you the choice of saving them on the phone or on the SIM. I always save contacts to the SIM, then when moving the SIM to a new phone there is nothing to do on that front.
It depends what you want/need to do, most fairly basic phones are fine for most things.Trying to sort out a new mobile.
It's like looking for an insect in the jungle.
Total pain in the rear.
Being retired we neither of us need to worry too much about phones. We can always use the landline and the computer or iPad via Wi-fi. But I do appreciate that those who work or are out and about a lot feel more need for more complexity. It depends what you want/need to do, most fairly basic phones are fine for most things.
I always choose Samsung simply because we've had them repeatedly for some time and have been happy with them. Also we always pick dual SIM phones because we have quite a few numbers and don't want to carry loads of phones, e.g. this phone I am using now has 4 numbers which come through to it, 2 mobile numbers (2 SIMs), a landline number via Skype and a premium rate number which diverts to one of the mobiles.
Have just bought a new phone in fact, which was a Samsung A05s, fairly low down the range and not expensive, there's no need for the latest Galaxy S25 costing a grand or so.
I've had a look through all the settings and can't find anything at all for changing where contacts are saved to. I assumed it would be possible, maybe some phones give you a choice and some don't.I did think that.
Today or yesterday I looked for this option on the phone and couldn't find it.
Doesn't mean it isn't there though.
i also tried to delete contacts and couldn't do that either, all I could do was delete bits of them via "edit"..
I have given yer examples of samsung fones to buy. All from argos so easily available. Problem is yer dunt want to spend yer sovs. Yer may fink yer dunt need it on the move but there will be a day whennit happens and yer stuck. Nearly all fones are smart fones these days. Touch screen control wiv cameras and sbility to watch tv and connect to the intrrnet. There's opa fones wiv less functions but no need fer that.Being retired we neither of us need to worry too much about phones. We can always use the landline and the computer or iPad via Wi-fi. In my research I was surprised to find that iPhone and Samsung dominate the market so nearly completely.
My problem is the enormous range, even at the bottom of the price level, which is all I am looking at. It makes me feel like just sticking a pin in a list blindfold. So many seem to do exactly the same thing. And they all do far more than I need. As you said.
I also don't understand why so many make such a feature of being unlocked. As far as I know, ever since the new rule, all new ones have to be unlocked, so why vaunt it?
I'll get there in the end and I daresay it'll end up being a bottom of the range Samsung.
