It doesn't need to be quite so big though.

or this type for bonnet mount, but I'd rather something on the back door though.

Hi mate had a look at the pics, could knock something up, the frame of the cage would have to be in inch box and i could do all the sides in inch weld mesh. Would just have to work out the mounting points.

Kris,
Sounds good, maybe need to have a look at the rear door to get an idea of what size it needs to be.
Hi mate, let me know how high, wide and long it needs to be and i will check that we have the metal in stock if we've got it i'll start making the cage up and then we will just have to work out the fixings, if we haven't i will still be able to do it, just might take a bit longer as i will have to add it to the next order of steel.

Kris, will have a measure and let you know asap. As regards fixings, maybe 4 tabs on the inside, drilled, 1 in each corner, so it can be bolted to the back door. I can just paint it up body colour and have it as a permanent fitting.

Just had a thought, dont know if it will help but I have got a 110V/220V generator - Could try cutting bits off to make it smaller but the disc cutter I have is not big enough and was thinking could drill a bit of concrete away to get to a reinforcement rods where we could atatch the winch. Anyone else got any ideas?

For the record I havent seen this concrete block but assume it weighs a fair bit. I wouldn't risk winching it unless using 1 or 2 snatch blocks even then I would try and get hold of the council to confirm that they havent placed it there or at least make them aware of it. Make the point that it is their responsibility to maintain access to the byway and this has been placed illegally. Then I would offer them any assistance they require to remove the block. Rember ground resistance could be alot more than you first think.. Jai
