good news on the mot chris

Cheers mate it's certainly been a while coming!

Been out to start giving it a little shake down, see what goes wrong. Drove steppingly and a bit of road work. Serious misfire I think is down to the dizzy cap being dirty. Will order replacement ignition system tomorrow, slight knock on the steering at speed. Might just be me not used to permenent 4wd.

What... No Leonburger this trip???? The world's gone all a kilter.... this just aint right ;)

If you're going to overhaul ignition system make sure you get genuine Lucas rotor arm and dizzy cap; go to Dingocroft. Trust me do not use pattern parts, they won't last. Leads, get good quality silicon leads. Plugs, well standard plugs work O.K. I'm currently using Bosch Super 4 which seem O.K.

Steering knock, hard to suggest what that could be, I wonder if you hav a worn bush somewhere. Hope that helps ya.

If there is a knock somthing is wrong,
Check,

Drop arm, ball joints, bushes, etc. as Kev suggested.
Landys do have their faults but setup as standard should be perfect. Jai

Checked out the bushes last time I was under the motor... all seemed fine. Ta for the source for ignition bits, I'll call them on monday, although it is a lot better having cleaned the crud of six months standing from the contacts inside the dizzy cap.

I Decided to go and do a few lanes today...found one between Hemel and Bovingdon, right next to Phasels Wood if anyones done that before? Got a little tight in places. I was very tempted to do the ford at the Mill in Harpenden/Redbourn but couldnt see the bottom, was pretty deep with all the rain this morn....decided to be on the safe side and leave it not having a snorkel. Finally went to the lane which comes out just down the road from the crooked chimney...nice and wet and slippy...when did the rutty bit at the end get flattened?! It was completely flooded.

Alright Rob how's things? Looks like you are not going to Derby. Fancy meeting up for a couple of hours on the Sunday? I am busy on the Saturday which is why I can't go :(

Evening Ryder :D

I'm saving money for next weekend (including money for fuel!) but if it is OK would like your number for another time maybe?

Hi mate things are good thanks hows you? Yeah shame I would have loved to go Derby just couldn't get the Saturday off. Sunday 28th is good for me, remind me the week before though otherwise i'll forget! We'll sort some lanes out, at least I will have somebody to give me a tug if I get stuck :D You done many lanes lately?

Redbourn is pretty safe without a snorkel, it's not that deep and there's nothing nasty under the surface to hit.

Ruts were filled of crooked chimney quite a few weeks ago. i can see the ruts developing again though as it's just soil thrown in on top to level it out.

i was up at DB's this afternoon to finish mine off. Was doing well until the heavens opened, didn't stop ****ing down, so rain stopped play. Drove home, got to Barton and it was bone dry - typical.

Yeah I just wasn't convinced with the ford as it was so mucky wasn't happy about doing it.

I like the one by the crooked chim... I avoided the tight 'scratching' bit at the end though and turned around and came back out by the John bunyan pub. Was pretty slippey under all the dirty water where it's been filled in...I decided to chance it though :D

Good here thanks. Just not had the time or money to do any lanes recently. I'll send you a PM closer to the end of the month and we'll do some nice easy lanes suitable for our plain ol' Discos :D

Sounds a plan mate, but yours isn't plain...you have a steering guard! ;)
