Actually the gear ratios in the rear diff makes the brake a very effective Magnifys its effect on the wheels.

Mine has been used to great effect on many occasions hanging off of the side of hills steeper that were lets say steeper than one assumed. The only problem with these transmission brakes are they tend to get dirt, grit and water in the slider mechanism and that tends to get in the way of the slider making them 'hang on' or not fully release. The advantage of a disk is they arn't effected as much by water and they are simpler. However I have seen one with a distorted disk on challenge vehicle when he got it stuck on a rock he ripped the caliper off the tranny box and bent his disk. Although these were not x-eng ones they were of similar design. I like the standard hand brake although it would be easier if it could be sealed from all the water/grit etc. Jai

Hey falla's, hope your all well iv been so busy at work haven't had the time to get on here.

Well the landy flew through the MOT yesterday not even any advisories he said it all looked new under there :D .

LOL

hello glenn mate hope all is well can ya PM me when ya get a chance, i dont have a landy to have in bits thank good no more rust yay

mot failed so wont be going to Whaddon Sunday doh!

On a lighter note only have to fix a bad earth on of fog lamp fit a pin in the hand brake and remember to attach me new number plate. If only they were open on Saturday Jai

i just ran out of time, keeping the bank, estate agents, financial advisor, solicitors and the other half happy the landy had been sidelined up untill 5am this morning that was so i think i did alright really, plus id only break it at Whaddon trying stupid stuff like climbing that cliff face. I really have the bug for a couple of exciting green lanes after monday though Jai

most open till lunch time thats a **** you need to wait, its like having a beer put in front of you but no being able to drink it

Where I go they are a family run buisness very friendly very up on landys know what they are looking at and very fair,if its knackared it will fail,if its marginal they use their head weather or not to pass it. Can't reccomend them enough and only 5 mins walk from work. I have never used them for any work only MOT's. I would send any older landy there for an MOT as they are so good. Only pain is they are not open on Saturdays. plus they have a cool Ferret (Armourede car not the fury kind) outside their gate and a couple of unimogs Jai

The weather looks kind this weekend, so I'm definitely going to Whaddon on Sunday. The Spydiemobile seems to be running fine, so it would be rude not to. :D

Jai Got your dad's axle stand here, all finished under the disco so I could drop it round over the weekend with your other tools if you need them. I know you've been busy as hell... of course you are welcome to leave them here... never know when they could come in useful :)
