Well not done a lot today, Finished cleaning the engine up ready for paint.
Ordered some epoxy primer and some red paint so hopefully early next week it'll be looking cleaner :D

Tidied rest of the yard up, Old td went to it's new home. Nice to get the bloody thing of the drive. Came to pick it up in a 90, Went in rather snuggly :p
Darn sight easier dragging the old td up the drive than the 6bt was

Little and large :p

Would it be worth it for me to sell my spare Cummins engine I have in a old horsebox I have.

I have no idea......hell I'd buy it if I had the cash but I've already got my caddy engine sat here to go into the next project unless you want a tax exempt series chassis and V5 and other odds n sods in exchange for a project :p

Haha I have got to much to do already. But i will have a think on the price as I wouldn't be able to get it out myself so whoever bought it would have to chop the chassis or lift it out.

Cool ;) I'm only an hour and a half from you so me and him could come down with the oxy torch, send me a PM or something when you know

How much do you want for it ;) my mate could be interested

Not sure as as it's only done 170000km what would he offer.

Will do pal

I'd have been interested in a spare if I wasn't skint

Easiest way would be hiab or forklift to remove but then not everyones got one, Me included.
It's not fun dragging it around on a engine crane.

I paid £450 for mine delivered to my door. Looking like this.

Not a lot again today.

Still don't know what to do, But I'm now thinking the best way is to take to tdi out of the blue one I've just built and stick the cummins in that.
Yes it's going to pain me to rip the thing to bits again but it means I get the galv chassis I want without having to start again spending money I don't really want to use.
Not a definite plan but it's the way I'm leaning at the mo.

Waiting for paint for the engine so decided to clean the exhaust manifold and turbo up.

Thought it'd be easier to do it with the turbo unbolted (It's rather heavy in one lump)

Manifold cleaned up.

And painted with some high temp stuff, I've got no idea how well it's going to hold up when it starts glowing :D But time will tell.

Then thought I best tackle the broken manifold bolts.
Decided to drill and tap as I didn't fancy braking a easyout in one as I'd be f*cked then.
So centre punched.

Hole drilled to 8.5mm

Ran a tap through, Can't say I enjoyed doing it, Kept thinking the tap would snap and f*ck me over even more.

And done. Only did 2, So 2 more to do tomorrow.

That's a very posh tap wrench you've got there. Nice looking thread too - looks as good as one put into virgin metal.

I reckon I may have that engine for myself actually :D I can probably find enough cash down the back of the sofa and make up for it if I cut down on using the V8

Yes, It's nicer than the others I've got. It came with a job lot of tools I bought. I wouldn't buy one myself. I'm a tight twunt

Came out pretty good :) Cant say I like doing that kind of job, But needs must.

Yes, Do it! :D
Back of the sofa  You've obviously got to much money to start with :p

Has he gave you a price then?

By back of the sofa I mean the overdraft  and no he hasn't yet but if yours was £450 delivered then it should be about that especially if I come collect it with an oxy torch and engine hoist!

Ah, Got ya, To be fair £450 was cheap. Engine and boxes do more than that on ebay.
But if you're removing it yourself then that's got to be considered in the price.

yeah, it'll find its way into a 110 if I do buy it while the caddy works its way into a hotrod

made a start on that already but decided I want box section instead of bar so I'm starting again

I know you've already done it but by the looks of it could you have just drilled straight through and put a nut on the back and used bolts?( no more problems with snapped or seized studs)
