I bought one of ebay for 30 quid, they all looked the same to be honest.

Just to put my mind at rest the tractor noise would be the backpressure right and not something i messed up?
Anyone else have a solution?? bit miffed now :)

I bough the stainless steel one £43 inc p+p fitted well no messing spot on fit looking to fit the silicon pipes next If it doesn't fit well i would send it back no point on spending hard earned cash on something that's not wright hope you get on OK

I bought the cheap £30 version off ebay, no new bolts or seals (used the originals) fitted perfectly, would definitely return the one you bought.

Suggest you wear gloves or you'll never get your hands clean :)

you where right fortunately my friend did it has i am recovering from a detached retina , defo seems to run better , it was minging inside , i presume the little pipe that operated the valve is just disconnected and removed :fighting2::bounce:

If it's best to have the pipe plugged, to avoid a loose hanging end of a vacuum pipe, removing that pipe completely is not the solution I'm afraid, better block the arrival pipe of the vacuum, near the plastic T-connector near the brakevacuum unit. That way the solenoide won't work anymore and you don't risk having the starving duck syndrome. :)

You shouldn't leave a vacuum pipe open to the atmosphere, you may also get the dreaded duck noise. Have a look at the EGR threads using search, this should give you all the info about the duck. As Willo says, posts crossed over.

Many thanks to all you people on here in making the job of fitting the EGR Blanking Mod so straight forward.I have fitted mine to my 2004 freelander auto this morning took 30 mins start to finish.Took the car on a 60 mile run and must say with the Egr mod and the ecu chip i have fitted it is like driving a 2 ton sports car.The car pulls very well and is very smooth!Well pleased thanks to all!!:)Ps used the £30 mod off Ebay here is the link.eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace

only thing i would add, i bought a similar one and noticed a slight leak where the egr bypass buts up against the plastic part so a £1 sheet of cork gasket was bought and fitted.....now there is no leak. BONUS.

Good day LR people...
I (OR RATHER MY WIFE) haS an 03 td4 with bmw engine witch has a simillar power loss problem to those you guys discribe, but symptoms differ ever so slightly for instance: the car is sluggish in low revs(idle to 3000rpm) and therefor lacks power and oomph. secondly it does not feel as if the turbo boosts where it is suppose to but u feel and see the revs shoot at around 3100 rpm and then the car goes fine until you come to a hill or incline then drops power. if i select sport mode on the automatic gearbox and change manually i can basically keep the rev counter above 3000 rpm and the car flies well then. is there someone that could maybe help. im sittuated in limpopo province. south africa. thanking anyone in advance. eddie.

Hi Eddy, and welcome to LandyZone.

Sounds to me like the MAF may be the culprit.

Before you go rushing to buy a new one just try disconnecting the MAF and take it for a run. With the MAF lead off the ECU will run on default setting which will return the power, but up the fuel consumption.

If the performance improves with the MAF off that can only mean one thing - that the MAF is kaput.

Try it and come back with the result - it may be something else but this would be my first check.

Good luck.

Singvogel.
