Picked up the new bushes today. They've got a Teflon coating when new!

No lubrication needed then.

No, not when new or still working. There was no Teflon coating when I was last in so I put grease in and that just collected the dust and and dirt and made cement. Harsh lesson. When I took the dust cover off and looked closely at the old bushes there was a sign of Teflon on the top hat bit on the outside.

What did they cost mate?

You don't want to know. I bought both left and right bushes plus the cup the piston goes in plus a new rubber boot and spiral clutch pins. £70 the lot. No discount to dedicated Land Rover owners available. Just "do you want it in your arse or your mouth first?"

Those bushes must cost at least £3.00 each to make. Shame you don't have a lathe.

And make them out of phozy bronze, drill and tap the housing for grease nipples Wonder if MGB steering swivel bushes could be used/modified? Or Metro rear suspension arm bushes then reamed to size.

Indeed, I would not pay £20.22 for the big one and £17.67 for the small one (Rimmers prices) in a million years. I would make some.

Compared to the cost of a new lever I got off lightly!

A lathe would be nice. But where to put it?!
