Royal Hunters have a far nicer odour than Dunlops.;):)

The pink ones :D

You will of course have reset the headlamp aims down to take into account that with coils they are no longer self levelling. :D:D

Local garage did it for me for MOT. They point down bit much, can’t see too far at night but lights are bit dim anyhow. You suggested night breakers previously but I manage okay. Don’t understand how these new lights off cars blind me coming other way when I’m up so high?

That is because they are an abortion. Regs used to be that you could not fit anything larger than 55 Watt headlamp bulbs. That must have gone out the window with the new ones. Maybe EU say they are ok so our regs don't matter any longer.

It seems a lot of the construction and use regs are ignored these days including the surface area of rear lights.

Correct, when I passed my test the big thing was getting pulled for number plate letter spacing and no flag sticker or design on them. Nowadays so much money in private plates some people get away with all sorts. I know some get trouble still though

I don't know what's worse, coils or Oh! the shame,a mate had just phoned to tell me he has bought a Range Rover. What model I asked.Ejoke he answered.phone disconnected.:D

You should have asked him to use it pick your kitchen up in, and take the rubble up tip, that’s what a RR’s for :D

The clutch did the floppy thing again today like when I squished the slave. Brakes went bit unresponsive too took few pumps get the pressure back then it faded again.
Pulled over took the brake reservoir cap off, there was a hiss, pumped straight back up pedals pressured okay. No sign of snakes ...

Could there be bit of air trapped in accumulator itself?

Don't like the sound of that. Never had a hiss from my brake reservoir. Vacuum or pressure, do you think?

Sounded like release of pressure (air). Not something I’ve heard of before. Not loads but once it was out the pedals went back normal  Hoping it was bit of air trapped from the bleed that found its way to the top once warm and bounced around? Or maybe accumulator is dying but then how is it working good again now.

It’s definitely only since I cocked it up

Am sure cap should be vented. Fluid level should be checked and topped up to Max line only AFTER pump has stopped. Fluid will bleed back into header tank from accumulator over time if car is not used and show over full but should return to Max line when car is run accumulator is filled and pump stops.

Yes, they're the yellow ones where the vent is built into the top of the cap. Guess it could of got blocked. No idea how you clean it!

If the cap is blocked, when pump fills accumulator a partial vacuum will be caused in tank, on a manual this may suck fluid out of clutch master cylinder. Causing clutch malfunction.

Think this could be the problem, Accumulator seems to run more than usual when this occurs. I’ve scrubbed the reservoir dozen times but it’s so discoloured and stained it is hard to check level accurately, there may be a little too much in there as I put more in than I got out when I bled the slave. Another bleed may be worth effort for sake of thoroughness. I can still stop when it happens fortunately but with less brake pressure

Thought it worth mentioning ;

Been checking things I’ve done, and things likely to need doing on my P38. Brakes and clutch have been fine since the hiss - I have cleaned the expansion cap thoroughly. Checked the slave again , very cautiously, that play we had - it’s gone

Pretty much,
It will still play but now it’s bout 2mm!! If that o_O
I don’t know what this means?

Hopefully nothing!

For you I mean....

Hopefully nothing. I have been in and out of low quite bit lately but dont see how that could effect it.

I will check now and again see if it differs

Ah, I see. Well, hopefully I'll get mine running on Monday and then see what happens. Assuming all good I'll try to get it in for an MoT test ... Third time lucky!
