He lives too far away, how do you know my name?:D

If jack dun like him very much, may drop it on his head. You know what jack is like for Jill...rolling down the hill and that

The R30 is a relatively light unit, considering..

You'll handle it Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ;)

It's the transfer box that is the bastard.112lb or 1cwt. You will have to Google that Henry. ;):D
Pfft thats nothing.. :D

Bit of pain in the neck literally, having to wiggle under a P38 with it "resting" on your chest :D got it up there though, :D

Was up to it then.;):D

You and me both. I've gone bl**dy soft sitting at a desk. It was bad enough easing the transfer box to the floor when it dropped on me last time. I did consider splitting it off but then I thought, nah, where's the fun in that?

It’s lining it up to get back on is the tricky part. Or so I hear , hope I never have to find out

With a 4 poster and transmission jack not do bad. With a motorcycle jack that scissors up and down, probably not so bad. For my bodgit ...

I have it balanced on a trolley jack attached to an adapter that bolts on where the cross-member used to which in turn is stuck on a bit of old drive shaft. As the jack raises or lowers it pivots backwards or forwards. In order to get it out the box was lowered a little to get the stub of the gear lever below the transmission tunnel, pivoting the engine up at the front (watch the viscous on its housing!). I then pulled the jack back from the rear of the car using a lorry strap. As the gearbox came out the wood I wedged the engine with dropped out and the engine sprang back horizontal.

To get it back in I need to tilt the engine back again. As I raise the jack it will pivot away. Because there is a certain amount of slack where the driveshaft goes through the jack the whole thing has some movement for manoeuvre but it does mean manhandling something like 150kgs to line the input shaft up with the splines in the friction plate (held by the clutch assembly) and to line up the bolt holes on the bell housing with those on the clutch housing. All in a very restricted space.

Last time I was sweating like a pig by the time it went in. Took quite a few attempts.

Lifted on coils I have no issues with space underneath. I drive up onto four breeze blocks and you could have a tea party under there :D need a spacer for jack though as fully extended it won’t lift anything

I know it will drop out okay (only one way to go) but from sounds of things I doubt I could get it back in on my own so don’t think il be trying that  Or Henry will have to come help me - so get your ecu sorted before my clutch goes :p;)

I drove on to 4ramps, pressed the button on the dash to raise the car, look at a 38 with proper suspension if you don't know what I mean, axle stands for saftey and loads of access.:p No need for breeze blocks. When iI did it in France the Classic was on coils and I was built like a racing snake so need for any blocks/ramps. Didn't have either any way. clutch aligning shaft I whittled from a willow branch. :D
