Haha and I thought it was sinking in. Was on how stuff works there but I'm too hungover to process one of the pictures haha.
So I'm getting the transfer box bit, so if there's the cara getting no drive at all, it shouldn't be the front diff that's causing the problem?
Thankfully with the nature of my business I put a lot of work through the garage every week so I do trust them. Not that that makes unexpected repair bills easier to swallow.
It's already had £500 of parts this week and that's not including the labour for the mot work!
James I promise to stop bursting your balls but is there anything I can suggest the garage try to diagnose if it's the diff or not, or anything in particular?
jack one wheel in turn ,it should try and turn prop the one that doesnt has broken cv/half shaft if both dont probably diff, same with t/box if you jack one rear wheel up with vehicle in park or manual in gear handbrake off ,if prop will turn rear output shaft has failed but wont turn if okay ,if rear prop dosent turn but wheel does same as front axle applies, only jack one wheel up at time
Small update, garage said they started to reverse the car of the ramp, then clunk, clunk, clunk, then no drive. Crunches when put into park. Put it back up on the ramp and there is a small bit of drive to the back wheels but not enough too be the car.
there will be crunch when going into park as with no link between wheels and box, box will keep spining while park pawl is forced into castleated brake wheel
if there is fixed normal drive through, gearbox output shaft t/box ,props , diffs ,halfshafts, cvs ,drive members, when you go into park box output shaft cant spin making grating noise it would only do that ifvehicle was moving
