Quick update but not fixed just yet...

Doug has built me a reconditioned EBCM and has tested it and its working fine, he did try my old EBCM on his test vehicle and the same faults accured on the test vehicle ie, horns blasting, headlights on main beam and hazzrd warning lights flashing so it appears the original fault was 100% EBCM

but

The secondary fault that i created was accidentally shorting the brown and green wire from the fuse box to EBCM causing a few sparks, since i did that the original fault above and now an additional fault of the rangie turning over but no firing up and no dash at all ie nothing no lecd no nowt....

But

After checking a few things tonight and awaiting Doug coming tomorrow with my EBCM i have found MAXIFUSE 1 60a one has blown hope this might be the cause of the non firing up and the dash being off as well, fingers crossed anyway....

Tomorrow will tell the tale when doug gets here and fits the EBCM
here it is tested and working fine:confused:

What was it?! Don't leave us hanging like this! Can you plug your phone into the computer and post up Rick's explanation?

Hi guys ive spoken to Rick today all be it quite brief, I can only go off what he is saying to me at the moment but im not techincle or dont understand these Ebcm things but all i can say at this moment in time is, he is in his words " 10,000 % sure he has fixed my car " so there lies the clue, he has fixed it and dont have the car...???

Im not avoiding the answers guys but Rick is supplying a documented report on the repair and what is or has been the problem, when that arrives i will let you guys know which hopefully will be around mid week as my bits are being posted out monday, and im off all week too....

All i can say is Rick is 10,000% sure its sorted....

couple of days and we will all know....

Fingers, toes, Girlfriends Fingers and toes, the cats Claws and if me snakes had'em they'd cross them too!!! All crossed for you!

Just be careful when you put it all back not to flash any wires:eek:
Have never met him, but if Rick say's he is sure, I think he must be confident.

Datatek ---One thing for sure mate i have certainly learnt my lesson to double check and treble check that the battery is disconnected no matter what im doing in future a lesson well learnt there and will never be forgotten i can tell you.....

That's a great lesson to learn, but luckily for you, no damage was done.
The only thing that blew was the main fuse.
The car wasn't starting before you started looking into the fuse box, & as far as i'm concerned the problem was already evident & no further damage was done through causation of the fuse box.

Love how you make it sound so simple :)

So is that it, ???
I have been perched here on the edge of my thread bare seat, for days and weeks, and you tell me it's a main fuse.
I am sure you making it far too easy.

WELL DONE>

Uk Vette ---No its not the main fuse mate not at all it did blow when i caused the short circuit but i replaced the fuse and it still did not start with the new ebcm fitted... a quick bullit point run down to refresh peoples minds guys...

1. Headlights horns and hazzards come on for no reason while driving..
2. Check fuse box for corrosion (ok no issues)
3. Unplug alarm siren still headlights fault on, but engine still RUNNING
4. Loosen fuse box to connect alarm siren up again, and cause short on fusebox terminal underneath on 10mm terninal brown/green wire
5. ENGINE WONT START NOW BUT TURNS OVER and hights fault still on as well

RANGIE started fine till i caused the short on the 10mm stud underneath the fusebox on the brown/green terminal to the ebcm...

6. Ebcm now diagnosed as lights fault taken away by Doug for rebuild
7. Whilst ebcm is away being rebuilt i rest a few things and find MAXI fuse blown and replace it..
8. Doug returns my Ebcm and fits and sysncs it in,
9. Lights fault fixed ( original problem sorted) but still wont start due to shorting the wire ??
10. Try a replacement fuse box complete with relays and all fuses ( still non start)
11. Try & replace new crankshaft position sensor (still non start)
12. Try & replace both coil packs (still non start)
13. Replace engine Ecu on inner wing Doug returns 3rd time to code into ebcm
14. STILL NON START TURNS OVER BUT STILL NO SPARK...
15. Rick gets in touch and Ebcm and both new and original Engine Ecu's away to test
16. Rick has made some progress and is confident its sorted but awaititng delivery to test 100% of my ebcm and engine Ecu's

If it starts i will let you know the full diagnosis as he is writnig a report but Rick is in his words 10000% confident with his work....

And thats it where we are so far guys ....

you might need to edit no9 ;)

Thanks Neo,
I was getting confused again. (probably not the first time, or the only one)

So as soon as the bits are returned, you going to first "disconnect the battery! arn't you !!

Then refit the bit's,turn the key, and grin.

Hope we read some thing like that in the next few days.
