You pair are like the voices in my head! I'll convince myself I've got a bent rod one minute, then the mech today said he highly doubts it after seeing the car run. Old boy at rkautomotive said likewise. Ive dogged that engine for 200miles now and it aint gone bang. So I convince myself it's something daft and non terminal then remember all the ****e and issues and physical ****ing bull**** I've had going on and end up back at **** me my engines bolloxed.

Diagnostics and physical checks - cylinder balance check and whatever the ****ing scope thing is cuz I don't bastard know tomorrow and take it from there.

If it needs an engine it's going on ****ing eBay I've had enough of it
its no good pondering on it ,you have to prove ,by testing or stripping and looking which is compression test or an actual measurement, i get jobs everyday and i cant just ponder over it you have to get stuck in

No fault codes and cylinder balances are fine. They saw no reason to do a compression test. I don't either to be honest.

Was advised to change heater plugs then see.

Also, wouldn't start this morning. No glow plug light and couldn't hear pump priming on ignition 2 but would crank on starter.

Flicked on and off ig.2 a couple of times then heard pump and got glow plug light back. Started on the button.

No advice from mech on that, just shrugged, 'could be a relay could be a wiring fault'.

Edit
Drove fine all morning. Fuelled up on way to work, wouldn't start again when leaving pump.

Ignition 2 no pump sound, no glow plug light and temp gauge in the red. Kept trying and it started eventually. Drove to forecourt exit and it cut out. Started again straight away so left it at home.

Need to check earths and wiring I suppose

no dash lights thing, sounds two me like elctrickary gremlins.

remove all relays under seats n check for charring or moist ver de gris green powder stuff, a squoirt of contact cleaner, or my fav brake parts cleaner sitich the like for like relays around and see whats wot.

Tried getting resistance reading on glow plugs. Couldn't get middle 2 leads off without potentially breaking something so tested no.1 and 4

Tell me if I did this wrong

Set multimeter to ohms and cross probes to get drop.

Jump cable from battery neg for ease of reach

Neg probe on multimeter to battery neg. Pos probe on glow plug. Set to lowest ohms on multimeter.

I get 180+ but it blinks on and off randomly. Doesn't show up constant reading. So only got spurious readings off 2 out of 4 plugs.

If they are both 180+ they're fooked ain't they? Am I right in thinking glow plugs should be about 1?

plenty of advice on ere re c
Oh for ****s sake.

You know what , I shouldn't even own a socket set.

I'll have a look tomorrow now. Maybe take inlet manifold off to get access to middle 2

Cheers lads

glow plug change
plenty of plus gas over night.
remove with hot engine, not cold
use a 6 point socket not a 12 point.
