You've done loads on yours! I've spotted a couple of bodges already on mine...

R.e the hot smell, it's coming from l/h side of the engine bay, mostly from a mini exhaust looking thing that sits just in front of the battery/fuse box. Sound like the tbh mate? Alternator is opposite side of engine I believe?

Can't wait to get around it the weekend, just been looking at tailgate I suspect the upper tailgate actuator is fubar.

Might start a thread tonight but no piggies till she's clean :p

Many Thks, I’ve spent endless hours fixing it up as it’s such a nice motor, what bodges have u found on urs

Indeed that’s the FBH left hand side of the engine

That would be good if u start a thread as we can help u all in once place

So what did u think driving the D3 for the first time plse , must admit is my favourite so far and it always makes me smile when I drive it

By the way is urs an HSE plse , mines a base model , I have fitted front electric seats which made the world of difference and virtually rebuilt the entire suspension

Mines the S mate, i don't need too many toys and it's less to go wrong ;)

Front and rear heated cloth, dual zone a/c, cruise, electric everything I suppose. It's nice :)

First time I drove it? I couldn't believe a 13 year old car could feel so good. To get in this from a defender....Jesus!

The air suspension is a but weird at first, but you do seem to just float around. Doesn't feel too heavy in corners but I haven't really thrown it round, they ain't for that are they lol

Engines really quiet and smooth, it is a really impressive car. I'm not in love with it yet, it's a tool to me really but if its relatively kind to me I can see it being a slow burn :)

:):)

Funny enough I wanted a D2 at first but alas all the ones I looked at had chassis issues, did think about fitting a new chassis but felt it was too big of a job to take on

Then saw the D3 being sold as a fixer upper so got that instead as a project , took a year just sorting out all the previous bodges
It is hard to find one with good cassis to be fair I was lucky with mine 1988smithy will tell ya he gave mine a good look over :D good for age but yet again there’s always something to do

Looks nice mate I’ve always had soft spot for defender but never came across one in my budget. Oh half shaft seal done now no leak any more and full set off wheel nuts on the way black;)

Yep yours is solid enough I reckon. Check behind rear springs when you have the wheels off they like to go there and inside rails along fuel tank.
Did they say what the play was?

He said it was maybe from power steering box:confused: if that is at front that’s what he was pointing to cost me £85 at garage  kicking my self I’ll be round yours next time ;)

Lmao! I'll point to the bits I think it is :D

Your power steering box is the other side. That play is at top and bottom of wheel, top or bottom ball joint I reckon
