I was in the back of one a few days ago looking for a trip to the yard, first thing I said to the driver was that it needs 10" added to the cabin at the back to make it anywhere near comfortable, I was in it for 15 minutes and I just as well been in a Mk1 mini for being cramped up lol

Then you feel for my mate who was in the back of mine for 2k miles to Spain and back :p:D:D

2k miles :eek::eek::eek:

He is either somewhat vertically challenged or was inebriated and self medicating on whisky for the journey :D

I think they missed the boat so many times with Defenders and Discoveries to take the fight to the rivals in their sectors.

I like your frames, they look plenty strong enough, the RRS seats are going to be uber comfy though.

Erm bit of both :D:p:p

Thats the idea anyway! Whole lot cost sub £200, better than £2k for the Puma conversion! or £1200 for the exmoors :eek:

I keep being annoyed as they would be perfect and brilliant in a CSW/USW maybe 130 DCPU but im just lacking that touch of extra space needed to make it truely comfy. However they will do!

Ive done it as much to see if it can be done, if i can do it and to see what its like. Plus uber cool having RRS seats in an old fender:p:cool:

Genuinely touched by the gifts from my old man.

Framed map & pics from LRP, Jet Boil and mum got the lego Defender.

Those subframes are tidy. I must do the same for my 130 to fit my two rear Recaros. I'm making a full length center console like a cubby box back to the rear window.

The cab of the 110dcpu and 130 is exactly the same so no difference in rear seat room.
Would have room to play2with in a CSW or USW alright but the pickup of the 130 is much more useful.

Slight diff being youve no wheel arches in a 130! Makes a touch more space. Looks really good!

Cheers! Quite the project but getting there! Ive if find the RRS seats too big ill test fit some standsrd front seats

Ahhh! I knew there was something but couldn't remember. I had test fitted the same seats in my first 110 a few years ago too which was a 110dcpu and it was abit more awkward to get them sitting in a nice position now that ai think of it and they ended up being a few inches higher so headroom would have suffered a tiny bit.

I'm going future proofing mine too and goings fitting isofix if can manage the mounts :D

Honestly thats 80% of the reason for the conversion

They have ISO fix too which is a huge bonus. The RRS seats will be pure luxury for a kid in a DCPU!

P38 seats in the front would be nice if RRS are too big ;)

More progress! But no pics atm :(

Subframe is painted - Buzzweld CIO
All mounting holes drill in the body and subframe
Test fitted the derv heater - Its tight but fits. Should have put more thought into this area as that will be a pig to remove should I need to
Both seats are welded in position upright
Drawer runners are on and within 1-2mm so shouldnt be too sticky!

Will hopefully get on to welding up the drawer tonight. Soon as thats done its final fit time!

Where did you bolt the subframes to in the body? That's the only thing I was thinking about if should use all the orginal mounting points for strength or not.

Or just anywhere and hace spreader plates underneath.

Bolted thru where the seatbelt crossmember is with an M8 10.9 HT bolt. Along with 10 stainless M8 rivnuts. Front seats are held in with rivnuts so should do the job fine. As its the seatbelts that will do the heavy lifting not the seats.

That said I am going to add some 5mm steel plates at the back of the subframe, which will bolt down through the existing seatbelt mount.

Fair bit this evening in between Boxing Day festivities!

Drawer welded up from 1.5mm steel sheet.

Final test fit before bolting it down :D

Really pleased with how its turning out so far. Few issues but nothing that wasnt over come. All coated with CIO

Will finish it over tomorrow, maybe Saturday as seeing the new Star Wars!

Eventually ill get round to wiring in the heated seats, got the wiring left over from the original front seats so should be easy enough.

Also going to fit some USB sockets and a 12v socket in the cubby box bit.

Then when I have time will fabricate a flat floor to sit in place when the seat bases are removed for storage. Will also include a slide out for my fridge. Could be tricky if I want to take 2 passengers but ill work it out

Taking a break from the 110 to build the 90. Hard task but going well

Suspension was easy on this one

Bit tougher too install on the 110

Can finally get the Terrafirma rubbish off my 110. I know in the past i have defended them but over the past 2 years ive really put there stuff to the test and it is not up to scratch. Its poor and unreliable.

Springs have sagged back to standard height in less than 2 years and 18k miles (if that).

Dampers ive had a 3 fronts fail from leaking oil and needed bushes in the rese shocks. Expedition shocks there are not.

Cheap n cheerful gave a good ride but not reliable.

Looking forward to a proper set up with Koni/OME :D:cool:

I've had similar experience with TF "stuff" - not fit for use IMHO. - I'm being polite. For once.

I'm thinking Flatdog springs.... maybe... Will be interested to see how you get on with that pile of goodies ;)
