Try this mate, have not used putty on exhausts for years cos it degrades / brittle n cracks.
All exhaust joins and gaskets. This copes with expansion like a boss!

So damn productive day.

LOFs Powerslave is fitted and my god does it make a difference! The pedal is lighter than the mrs i20 now. Honestly.

It needed a little more bleeding than usually would but when bled was brilliant. So light and so smooth. Im so happy. Will make London traffic a doddle now!

For £30 and 30 mins id reccomend to everyone with a TD5 Disco or Defender.

Also finally got the EGT gauge in! Quite tidy I think :) already hit 750c without even trying  need to find out what the actual safe readings should be.

Also got my headunit back from Kenwood, DAB works and radio work properly now :D

Curious to know if that clutch slave would fit my 200Tdi Disco? Worth a call on Tuesday me thinks, lighter clutch is always welcome.

Always good when some one has actually fitted and tried something rather than relying on a sales add, keep up the good work

Fixed the issue with the sliding tray this morning, now clears the door!

Welding 1mm and 2mm steel is HARD had a few blow throughs but nothing toooo bad. More practice needed for thinner metals :)

Welded an 8mm cylinder below the hole to prevent the steel from being crushed. Welded internally for max clearence on the outside.

Section cut out and replaced with 2mm steel.

A happy accident that the tray comes out almost the exact length of the rear door!

Finished with a few coats of CIO :)

1mm is a ball ache unless you are on 0.6mm wire and even then it can heat up super fast, but practice and patience are key there mate.

Good progress.

Exactly. Didnt do a bad job and luckily its not really seen so not an issue. Good penetration and the welds are solid so all that matters really!

Replaced the corner cappings. So much nicer with new ones!

Welllll Bearmach had a sale over the weekend so I bit the bullet and bought one of their 42L Fridges!

Clearly a China knock off (be good to find the "OEM", probs dirt cheap!) But 3 year warrenty so good.

Quality looks good and has a battery cut off and cut in you can set your self from 3 pre sets. Nice feature.

So made a bit of a decision......

Took the 110 down to Gareth at Empire Tuning and had it retuned.

Few reasons really. Jose has become almost impossible to contact when issues arise and when they do arise its difficult to book it for issues to be solved. So retuned by someone thats basically local and easier to speak to.

After the new tune the 110 is quicker than before, more low end grunt (MAFs been deleted), lower EGTs (by a fair bit!), more linear, better pick up on power and overall generally faster and smoother. Very happy customer indeed.

Then naturally had to have some fun.....

Jesus, almost came unstuck at the end of that but fook meh that looks like it goes very well now.

What were the EGTs like? I'm guessing 450ish to 500?

Nahhh i had it the wholllle time:oops::oops::p

Say pushing up hill in 5th from 60 - 80 EGTs would easily hit 900 before now its 750ish. Really got give it some to get the EGTs above 800 now which is always good.

Which blower are you running now? I recall that EGTs hitting 720+ were really not good for the exhaust turbines but could be for older turbos?

Used to run up to 900 on the 300 but was running a water charge cooler not air inter cooler.
Think I changed the vanes & ran360 bearings

Still the CR Turbos hybrid, cant fault that at all.

750+ isnt great for the head or manifold (though mines somewhat uprated) though no one can actually confirm 100% so you know.... Either way lower is better.

That said will probably make myself a 3"down pipe to help it all out a bit

Few little bits today. Hard wired the lil 300w inverter direct to the battery because it kept blowing fuses on the cig socket.

So nice being able to weld, made a lil cage mount for it. Couple holes for heat. Happily charged a 4ah makita battery from dead.
