Started fitting the amp today, all neatly wired up and stuffed into some plastic pipe work to protect from water, muck, stones etc...

Drilled a hole on the inside of the arch to run the cable through, under the car and into the battery box.
All fitted in place with some rivnuts, which where a pig to make fit! But its in good and solid, siliconed around the cable to try and keep any water out!

Going to finish running the cable tomorrow and wire it up then hopefully it works!

All fitted! Rather neatly i might add too! However it has gotten to the point where the double din only kind of fits  its in but comes out about 3mm more than it should and doesnt sit flush tad annoying but not much I can do due to the sheer amount of wiring behind there!

Amp sounds good though! Much louder than before, some hefty and punchy bass from the woofers. Needs a little adjustment but over all good!!

They only have to last twice as long as the standard Britpart item to be worth the money.

Can time be measured in such small increments ???:eek::D

Driven a fair way now on the new Coopers and got to say worth every single penny for the swap!!

Sounds interesting ..... I might try some, there is no way in hell they can be worse than the Michelins on at the mo, in the snow...

Been driving around 30 - 50miles everyday past couple weeks, mixed motorway and country lanes. Been excellent everyday, was doing 80 the other day without even realising!

Still got to try them off road!!

Im starting to understand why the LR version of the Alpine sub is mounted upside down :confused: spilt half a bloody coffee down there

Any cover would blow off as its the air vent for the sub!

May drill some drain holes :oops::p

So it looks like i can get the Safety Devices L243 cage delivered for £1330, a very good price indeed. Going to try and order for weekend delivery!

:(:(:( the bloody turbo drain is leaking AGAIN.

Does anyone know if there is an uprated, improved or better version of the turbo drain?

I remember an Elring mixed steel composite type gasket from my heavy plant days on Volvo dumpers but never seen anything for little turbos.

Quick Q if you don't mind, what R&P did Nige fit in that rear diff? Doesn't look like a HD set, was it just std Rover 3.54 in a pegged casing with and Ashcroft ATB?

Hmmm ill have a look! Thanks! Ive tried both 'material', steel and both together. Steel lasted days, material ones last months. Latest one lasted 5 months maybe more after removing the drain and sanding smooth on a tile with wet & dry.

Diff is standard bar being pegged and an Ash ATB, i could have gone for more but just didnt feel I needed it!

Cheers for that, I saw he has some 4.1 R&P sets as good second hand units but they're standard Rover types not Ashcroft/Kam HD jobbies and I was thinking it was worth a call to see how much to get them built into pegged housings 4 pin center open diff in the front and same as you with an Ashcroft ATB in the back but the jury is out as I think I would rather a selectable locker but can't make up my mind.

Anyhoo...

Got way too much to get sorted on mine currently without looking for more things to tinker with
