Your car looks great and shames my own pathetic attempts to make the Defender a little less agricultural.Been shopping again! Bought a few bits ready for soundproofing the front and adding the auxiliary fuse box. I want to do it all in one go to reduce removing the seats all the time, especially since the passenger seat is bolted in as the rivnuts gave up
MUD Cubby Locker - Sits underneath the cubby box and raises it up by around 10cm, not ideal but it does make for a nicer arm rest! Inside it will house the Blue Sea 12 way aux fuse box, CB Radio with front panel mount mic jack and audio jack on the front and the subwoofer controls, plus spare fuses/relays. Also going to fit a 12v socket and 5v USB on the rear maybe fit a another 12v on the front just because I can Keeps everything neat and tidy! but easily accessed.
Also got a 175amp Anderson connector so I can jump/be jumped without having to take the seat out, connector will sit on the passenger foot well.
Some internal fit wind deflectors, much cheaper than the Climair ones but look just as good, some aero blade wipers and a new battery. Went for the Enduroline, 1000cca,120ah biggest one I could find that would fit. Didnt fancy the split charge route, too much hassle imo. This one should be able to run near enough everything I want without issue.
Going order LRI Solutions Premium front carpet set shortly as well. My carpet isnt that bad at the minute but as soon as I start trying to pull it up for the Fatmat its going to rip, so better to replace! Also better quality and has better coverage than my current carpet.
To be extra fancy some YRM stainless sills, really tidy up the interior and finish off the carpet nicely. Not bad for £55 set of 4.
Soundproofing will consist of Fatmat Megamat over the entire seatbox, transmission tunnel and fooot wells up to the A/C (I simply cannot be bother to remove it all!)
Then some areas will be covered with 3mm closed cell foam which does not absorb water but is a brilliant insulator for both heat/cold and sound.
The carpet will then be spray glued over the top as the final layer. In a vain attempt to keep the carpet looking fresh I am going to spray the whole lot with some suede protection spray, the idea is water should bead off and it should be harder for mud to stick!
Rather a large job to do! Though well worth it, certainly made a world of difference in my 90.

Can you let me know where the YRM stainless sills come from? YRM is new to me.
Ahhh! Well youre in for a treat! YRM are your one stop shop for nuts, bolts, new panels etc! http://www.yrm-metal-solutions.co.uk
@gstuart I imagine the D3 is a hell of a lot more stable at high speed though!
think the suspension drops down on its own at motorway speeds,
Cruise control! Can only dream of such luxuries! Yeah 60 my usual, 65 is the limit. As good as the Cooper Pros are above 60 they do get a bit vibratey. Its not nice at at all! Hopefully the sound deadening will reduce this a tad but I havnt got my hopes up. Ideally I'd like to have a set of quality A/Ts on the Bowlers for road driving and the Pros on some steel wheels for off road driving. The sheer cost puts me off, plus I don't do that many miles, maybe 5k a year if that.
What happens if you are off road at 70MPH? You could get stuck.....Young Man.
Cheers
Yes for sure! Setting up a CB is a nightmare unless you have someone to help! Going for the Maxon CM70, reasonable price and seen it action gives crystal clear audio both transmitting and receiving
The recovery ( post #283 ) was very well executed. Very impressed

Just bought this little adapter, so I can keep the CB hidden in the Mud locker and have the mic attached from the outside!

Thank you I did build a 90 to a similar spec a few years ago so I know what to do and what not to do. Plus enormous amounts of research and reading other peoples threads! Especially since this time round I have a proper plan, not just a 'Ahh that looks nice! Ill bolt it on!' lol
Your 90 looks lovely, don't often see yellow ones, got any better/bigger pics?

Oooo now that's given me ideas of mounting my cb in the centre cubby box or glovebox of my Disco and running a lead to the centre console or dash to attach the mic when laning or off-roading.
Also I really need to get my carpet and factory deadning out to see what the floor is like.
Then basically gonna shameless copy everything you are doing to waterproof the inside lol.
Hi Bankz,
Where did you get this adaptor please? I like this idea.
Cheers
Aye, it shows too - they should have got together in front of the camera having done the job, and taken a bow....Cheers! It helps when the boys doing it run winch challenges!
Why did you force me into looking at this dreadful site!!!Thank you I did build a 90 to a similar spec a few years ago so I know what to do and what not to do.
