There are a few reasonably priced ones on ebay right now. If you've got head problems that will be very expensive, I know from experience. TD5s are good for huge mileage so a used one wouldn't be too much of a risk as long as you know it's a runner.

Yeah few things to consider. Once the heads off we can check the pistons and see. If the bottom end is gone or damaged ill look for a second hand engine, already eyeing up two with good history from auto D2s. Ill also be considering engine conversions given the costs, potentially an M57.

Though if it it is just the head/HG thats gone I will replace the it with an AMC one + HD studs, it wont be cheap i know but its a better head and will allow for more boost, if I want it.

If I can id like to keep my engine, its done 165k but I have full service history for first 90k and ive looked after it every since. So i know it well. Given a new head it should be good for at least another 100k and allow for improved running.

So not the best news on the 110 so far.

4/5 injector seals leaking.
Snapped cam carrier bolt
Potential hairline crack in an injector pocket

Could always be worse….,at least your finding what’s wrong even though the £££ signs are going up
How’s the car?

Got the 110 back!! :D:D:D

All fixed. 5 new injectors later and shes happy again!

Running like a dream again

So happy it wasnt anything more!
Did you find out if the injectors were all. U/S then?
Do these run at at different (higher) pressure as you have modified/mapped the engine?

2 where gone, others where not great.

They dont run at a higher pressure persey but they do stay open longer to allow more fuel.

Given they have done 165k miles its a fair innings for them

Just got to sort the steering box now

The 110 has been a right bitch the past 10 days.

Firstly had a bleed nipe corrode and leak, had to leave the 110 at work while I borrowed the mrs car to get a new nipple from my parents place. Nice 100mile round trip at 7pm. Got back just before it lost all its brake fluid.

Its also been starting like a PIG for a while, injector seals had been done by Gigglepin around a year ago didnt suspect that to be the fault but hey ho. That was exactly the issue.

Replaced them myself last Sunday, fairly daunting having to remove the cam carrier but all went perfectly. Of course used genuine land rover parts in gen LR packaging.

Starts on the button now.

Then to top it all off was on the way back from Southampton when I had severe wheel bearing failure.

Inner bearing has friction welded itself to the stub. 1500nm buzz gun to pull the hub nut off. As you can see tore the threads as it came off.

Took a while to get the disc off! Total rebuild with LR parts and timken bearings.

Had to get breakdown home, who dumped me halfway home at midnight with no relay until 10am the next day. Not really acceptable.

Finally it seems the 110 happy again

I'd put money on the wheel spacers being a good reason for the bearing failure, it's really hard on them, especially so with big rubber!

Potentially, though I believe it was down to the skip lorry crash. The incident actually damaged the caliper adapter, throwing the caliper off true. Meaning each time i hit the brakes it was pulling the disc off true and causing excessive wear on the bearing. Something I didnt notice during the repair.

Id suspect spacers if all the bearings failed more often, the rears for example have been done once and covered roughly 80k with no play, just some minor adjustment a couple years ago.

Good news is since the majority of the fuel system (pump, injectors, filter connections, FPR) has now been replaced the MPG has risen dramatically. Getting roughly 300 - 320miles per tank (full to reserve orange bit) compared to 220 - 250m. Which is nice given the fuel prices.

Furry muff!
Might buy meself some spacers in that case!!:D
