is there any way of testing the switch whilst of the vehicle?

If you have a test rig capable of 180 bar maybe yes. Otherwise forget it. Clean the contacts to it and it's plug first job. May save you a few bob.

cheers wammers that'll be a no then!!
ill clean everything tonight at work and try it in the morning. not holding out much hope though, may just plunge for a second hand pump assembly?

hi , I have today after the usual top advice from my good friend wammers taken my car for diagnostic check , as I was on way down to caravan and heard a bad sound i.e brd brd brd rd from what I thought was underneath the car it happens when I put foot down on pedal to speed up a bit .then only repeats as I put foot down again ,,,,anyway as I said top man wammers pointed to abs sensors or sensor switch and after diagnostic test its the abs sensor switch !!!! under the bonnet so will await delivery of one . having read your thread I though this may help you .... my fault was identified on obd II now I know pete and simon quite well over at landranger at stockport and I think their diagnostic machine is a very very expensive piece of kit AUTO-LOGIC ,and you would have thought that it would have shown that it is the sensor switch ,very strange that one ???????? so a big thanks to my remedial guru wammers ,, as always on the ball !!!!!!! thanks pal ,,kind regards mozz:):):):)

Get it on some dedicated diag Mozz, i said i thought it maybe a wheel speed sensor giving a wrong reading. Below 62.5 MPH on your vehicle, if one wheel speed sensor on the same axle is vastly different in output than the other, (on ice for instance) the ECU puts TC on the spinning wheel to try and equalise the speed of the wheels. This is what i thought you were getting from your description of the problem. Can't see how the ABS pressure switch can cause what you described to me. But if it does turn out to be that you live and learn. :);)

Any link to that thread/ info on replacement part??
Here is what I copied from the post:-
Just wanted to share an information, if you are experiencing ABS problems due to the pressure switch failing, do not pay a fortune for a new pump or a switch. I have changed mine with "ACDelco 25530882 Brake Pressure Wiring Switch" and it works fine with P38 ABS pump. It is plug&play, and bought for $80 from amazon. It is exactly the same part, no need for any modifications.
