Hi! As said above. I have no heating but can get cold air through the blowers. I checked my coolant and it's got some sludge in the cap and oil floating in the coolant and my temp gauge is showing just below half..

I'm guessing this is all linked and I'm going to flush the coolant in the week if I can find some time whilst it's still light.
Anyone had this problem or have any advice?

Cheers!

Sounds like some maintenance might do the trick. Flush it out thoroughly, check the thermostat and then fill up with the correct percentange of water/anti-freeze.

Oil in the coolent doesn't sound too good, does the vehicle use oil or the cooling system system pressurise when running?

it definatly pressurizes but Iv only had it for a week so im not sure if its drinking oil. Iv got my eye on it though. Does it sound like a head gasket? Thats what a mate of mine suggested.

ok. Just took it for a spin to get the heat up. Checked the expansion tank. and no hisses or steam when opening it... Also it had dropped by 1/3. I dont have any white smoke or drips underneath so where the **** is it going?!! Please dont tell me its ****ed because its already skinted me out :(

unfortunately pressurizing and oil in coolant are both signs of hgf :( have you checked under your oil filler cap or dip stick to see if there are any signs of emulsion?

Oh and whats hgf? there is nothing wrong with the oil that i can see. Im gonna flush that as well soon. Time to cry?:(

Not too bad if youve got decent tools! Sure theres heaps of threads if you search.Make sure the head is all good before reusing.:)

Ain't a new head a few hundred quid? I have access to very good tools but I don't really have much experience...

Ive no idea what a head costs,it might just need skimming or a repair.Motoring costs money! As i say there will be loads of info on method on here. The only vaguely technical part is torqueing the head down correctly:)

Alright. Leak check tonight. I was thinking t may be the heater matrix leaking? because got me manuel from the back last night and it was damp. Noticed condensation on the roof aswell. And thinking about it my windscreen keeps misting up! But that doesn't explain lack of heat.

Think youre on the right trak, jak!Matrix could be an issue, they are known to leak, block up or airlock.Well worth keeping an eye on,engines have been lost due to leaks.I changed mine a few years ago, purely caution there was no problem with it.Good luck, keep us posted:)Btw. check the wires on the heater controls are still on and OK!

Aha hopefully problem solved... Got the flood lights out tonight and started to flush the system. However when I opened the lower drain nothing came out. The system was dry. So filled it up to flush and noticed that it was jus ****ing out of a cooling hose. Don't know what hose it was but it was spraying over the heating intake. So chopped the hose a little shorter and re attached it and now it's not losing coolant. I drove it round the block and there was no heat through the blowers but I'll find out on the way to work tomorrow. Oh and replaced the coolant with clean stuff so if it has oil in it in a few days I'm thinking head gasket.

Will keep you updated.
