Hello

So I need a handful of bits for my disco, normally I can get stuff through our motor trade suppliers but this is landy specific stuff, I used to deal with a lad up in Droylsden but he has stopped delivering :( so its awkward for me and otherwise I buy bits off land rover parts shop cos they have a handy phone app but not sure if they are a bit dear?

So

I could do with someone who has a decent range between the three brands (I like britpart paper gaskets and swivel grease for instance but would want all makes pr2 seals) so I just thought I'd post up to see who the current favourite was!

Is there a clear winner?

Cheers :)

Think there must be an opportunity for someone in Scotland to open a parts supply place, seems we have Main Dealers and not very much else.
Doesn't really affect me but when you read the delivery terms on most Companies down south there is always a premium for delivery to addresses north of the Central belt.

Something to think about for my retirement :rolleyes:

plenty that don't charge a premium and do free over x amount... unless you are way up north.. :D

I'm afraid this site hasn't done a spares section yet :p
I've used loads all of above and even the forum Sponsor famous four /)

PA27 postcode - 60 miles from Glasgow attracts a premium

Sottish islands are obviously worse. I ordered a winch and bumper and on top of the £20 standard delivery charge the guy wanted me to pay an extra £80 for a courier to drop it off at the ferry terminal but it would be up to me to get someone to put it on the ferry and I'd have to collect it from the ferry on this side. Ok you can say "that's what you get for living on an island" and I accept that in a lot of cases, but some people do take the ****. Some companies just point blank refuse to sell to anyone up here even if you are willing to arrange your own collection etc. Anyway, I wasn't intending on a rant, I think a decent Land Rover (and maybe other 4x4) parts supplier in the Highlands would be a great idea.

Be patient man! Maybe he hasn't got through to them yet, they might have a years warranty on certain batters although most have a minimum if two . Bad attitude won't get anybody anywhere . See tomorow if by 12 they haven't phoned ring them up and ask to speak who you spoke too. Find out what's going on if you have the proof of sale then ( you ) will have to send the battery back and if faulty you will have one sent free of charge .ps that's the mistake people make they buy battery's online and when it goes tits up your stuffed ! Always buy local and you can take the bugger back ;)

I use British Parts UK. They have everything in and you can either all or use an online account. Very reasonable priced compared to all mentioned above.

I have just used them for the first time this week, for Watts Linkage bushes and they were the cheapest and surprisingly enough the parts turned up today and they aren't Britpart.
They will be added to my list now

The whole Scotland issue is a pain... I paid the extra fee when I sold my engine to a Scotish person, but, if I was running a courier company I would probably do the same, they're running a buisness, not a legal obligation to deliver to everyone every where at the same cost.

Actually it almost is. There are various organisations (CAS, Trading Standards, Local MPs etc) looking in to the extra costs that retail companies and then courier companies charge for sending stuff up here. A lot of people are just completely ignorant about Scottish geography, for example, some companies think Inverness is an island, and that Aberdeen is in the Highlands.

Just wait till it's a different country:p

I shop around but usually end up using LR Direct. They are only about 5 miles away so it's handy to collect from them and they are usually cheapest with a good range of options. Their website is a pain though as you can only search from part numbers.

I generally use Island 4x4, especially if over £50 as you get free P&P :D

Have used Rimmer as well for some seals and gaskets as they generally stock Genuine ones.
