Following the passing of dear and very close relative, my wife and I are spending some time stopping with family. This has resulted in me spending hours on YouTube watching Land Rover videos wishing that mine was sorted. There was one that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed which documents a Defender 300TDI strip down and gradual restoration. Clearly the chap is no expert, rather someone who is learning as goes and is having fun. What more of a reason do you need? I’m not sure if he’s a member on LZ, probably not, but he does deserve a pat on the back for his enthusiasm and attempts to document his progress. A really good effort. Unfortunately the videos appear to stop once he’s prepared his new chassis with no further videos available which is a shame as I would’ve liked to have seen how it turned out.

if anyone is interested, he’s called Land Fiend and the mini series is definitely worth a watch.

I know the guy, as far as I know he hasn't progressed any further as was running out of space and needed to build a good sized shed to store all the parts. I'll point him to this thread.

Morning. Thanks Turrican for showing me this thread.

I've been really busy with work and other projects (I have many...). As was mentioned, I completely run out of room in my garage and it was getting on my nerves moving everything around so I decided to take time out to build a shed. Like all my projects, three months turned into 12. However, I am in the final stages of finishing the shed, well, making sure it's insulated for the winter (I ran out of money as well as its almost 4k in materials so far...). I took today off work to do some insulating and put some shelves up. Once I'm done, I'll be back on the landy (in about a month I would have thought). When I'm not creating video's I tend to post the occasional photo on instagram if anyone is interested.

As mentioned above, I'm not a mechanic, I've never worked on a landy before. I am an x mechanical-engineer (heavy plant, radar cabins, compressors) from the forces from 25 years ago though. I was in fact creating a new video today to give an update (not just about where I've been but the others things I'm looking at as well).

To be honest, I've considered shutting down the channel or just making it private. I created it originally just to show a few mates of my progress. I'm not a fan of social media and the associated criticism you get from people you don't know. I'm more of a face to face kinda guy. I'll see how I feel when I start up again.

Thanks Landyfox for the comments. It's good to know you enjoyed the video's.

Cheers,
Mouse

Hey.... it is very good of you to take the time to post an update on here!! It’s great to know that you are still going and have not given up, however tempting it may feel lol. Also, it would be such a shame to close the channel down, both my son an I really enjoy watching it. I’m sure everyone will agree that it’s a really insightful look to rebuilding a Landy. It shows realistically just how much work is involved in doing this kind of job. Mouse if I was you, I’d seriously considered posting on here, even document your updates on here, you will find an incredible amount of help from members as well as parts to help you finish.

Why not have a brief look through some of Busters technical ‘How to Posts’. https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/busters-photo-tour-landrover-repairs.41/
