5 days of ownership so far and have bit making the most of it. Been using it on all trips round town and have been on a few jaunts. Drove to the centre of london on friday night through croydon traffic and then 50 miles on the m25 home the next day. Took her down to brighton earlier today as well.
I've learnt driving it is unlike anything I've driven before in the way your whole driving style changes. Its a lot more laid back than even top of the range mercs and the steering is lighter than anything I've ever driven. Tight turns so easily in such a big car is a thrill in itself. The suspension though is far too soft for my liking. Any corner that catches you out slightly causes the body to roll and combined with braking is an uncomfortable experience. On the motorway the suspension lowers and it is sooo much better. Is there anything I can do to fix it to this full time? Turning the suspension setting to low only works up til 25mph even if you fix it using the button. Totally backwards in my opinion as sub 25mph is when I want it at its highest.
The mpg has also been a let down even more than I expected. Showing 18mpg on the computer which is as I expected on the type of driving I've done. The problem though is the lpg. Was expecting almost double the equivalent mpg rating as its almost half the price per litre (70p/£1.30). I got 140 miles out of £35 today which only works out as 24mpg. Should be above 30mpg equivalent even if you take into account all the variables (optimistic dash read out if 18mpg, lpg only 70% as efficient as petrol, £1.30 isn't double of 70p!). Not sure what is happening here or if its to be expected.
Few things also I've had trouble with. Codes p1171 and p1174 keep popping up (3 times cleared now) and while it might be just the lpg causing misfires, I wouldn't mind having a look at the pcv hoses too. Does anyone have a reference guide to all the manufacturer specific codes?
Radio was kaput when I bought it which I don't think I can fix myself. Decided on a digi tv upgrade instead so I can listen to digital radio too. Dealer cost £500, local firm cost £300, online diy kit £190, buy the bits yourself after a bit if reading £70. Going to fit it tomorrow so hopefully a decent mod.
Also noticed a cupholder was broken. Dash one won't pop out as the spring has probably gone. Checked online for a part, £85 quid!!! Madness. Checked out some of the other interior parts and was amazed. Plastic fascias for £300. Thats higher prices than most supercars for bits like that. Even the exterior bits are unbelievable. £££ for those nasty cheap aftermarket add ons that make peoples cars look worse. Can't believe people have paid that much to actually make the car look that bad. I thought all if that stuff was cheap ebay crap. Think I will go online for a breakers cupholder anyway ha, and if it's more then £25 then I'll stop loosing sleep over it and my girlfriend can use the one 2ft away from it instead!
The car also has a slight knock from the front when turning left at low speeds. Probably a ball joint or something but I'll live with it til my next mot.
Loving the gadgets more than I thought I would too. Heated wheel is a genuinely good idea and the car has more things than I thought it had. Auto wipers are great and the seat function to bend the top of the back seat and adjust the headrest is top notch. Auto dimming wing mirrors are taking a bit of getting used to though.
