And if you mean low ratio and still won't go backwards then it sounds to me like you have some seriously binding bits, low range will usually overcome anything hell I've smashed crown wheels using low range.

What condition are your brakes and handbrake in?

Does it reverse in high range? If so, that suggests it's a transmission problem rather than brakes binding.
