Wiper arm removal - washer??

Hi all,

Like many I am struggling to remove the driver side wiper on my 2013 discovery four. I have WD-40 the attachment and I’m using a wiper on puller but all it’s doing is bending the metal.

Does anyone know if there is an additional washer beneath the 13 mm nut? On mine it looks like there is and perhaps this is stopping the arm coming loose. Are my eyes deceiving me?

They used to get very stuck by corrosion like welded, use some stronger compound that wd40 or heat or freeze and release spray and insist, there is not supposed to be anything else there

once the 13mm nut is off there is a “ridge” on the wiper arm next to the spindle which is what was leading me to believe someone has placed a washer there, as I thought the inside part of the wiper arm where the spindle comes through is meant to be flat as in this photo (I haven’t had the car from new so previous owner may have gone rogue)

I use the same puller at work, I find apply some pressure with the puller, then get physical with the arm itself, in your case push and pull at the main pivot point.
Tbh release oil will not make any difference.
 
Ok put the nut back on, but not as far as to contact the arm with any real contact, you need to leave a tiny bit of space. This is to protect the thread. If the nut is too thick finds a slimmer one.
Get someone to lever up on the arm while you take a drift of some kind, put it on the nut and /or end of the spindle, which if poss should be flush with the nut. Then give it a "smart" blow with a hammer, same principle as removing a steering wheel off the column.
