Just wondering which part is responsible for allow the windows to up when the ignition is off. IE when youve pulled up and turned off.

What should happen: Windows should go up when ignition turned off, keys in or out.

What actually happens: Nothing.

Cheers

That dont sound right I dont think there meant to work when the ignition is off mine dont and no other car ive owned have either

Mine do, until you open the door (or wait a while i believe).

D1, 300TDi. Turn engine off, and remove key, and you can wind the window up for a short while.

Same here, 1998 D1 (jap import) windows are live after switching off until a door is opened. Not sure about removing the key, might just be switching off.

Not sure what controls the power feed, I suspect it will be the MFU rather than the window ECU ?

Of course they wont work there is no power going to the windows when the ignition is off lol

Normal operation the ignition is in ll but they do for 45 seconds after the switch is turned to position 0, provided the drivers door is not opened in the meantime and it's the same with sunroofs.
Perhaps u should read your owners handbook ;)

I've just had a read through rave and there is no mention of the MFU controlling this feature though it does list other features. There is also a way of putting the MFU into diagnostics mode by holding my down the rear heated window button :O Gonna try that in a bit!

I'm wondering if there is just an off delay relay somewhere. My reckoning is though that the window relay cannot be this type or else you would be able to put your windows down as well as up with the ignition off.

Didn't know it was restricted to putting the windows up, but if that's the case I would think it is controlled by the window ECU rather than something external.

Well my apologies you learn summit new every day lol

But then I've had had nearly 16 years to study the D1 manuals and hand book and then only open the windows and sunroof to clean them once in a while, so that function is not important. :D

The two other modern cars I drive (wifes and V8 saloon) I know sod all, I just drive and clean them that's all the DIY you can do nowadays :D
