Hi
[1] last time I went out in my 2000 4.6, none of the windows or sunroof would open. Bin told its due to water getting in the switch panel - can I just WD40 it or is a replacement necessary & if so has anybody got one?

[2] is it OK legally to dispense with back boxes (and would it be too loud) or will I have to use those straight thro silencers OR would it be better to fit a new system ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated - sorry if this has been too exhausting :D

1), dont used WD 40 on switches. take them out and give them a good clean with contact pray/cleaner. in side as well!

2), yes it is illegal. but you might as well just put a nice Janspeed sytem on. mine sounds great!

Check the fuses. NEVER use WD40 on electrical equipment. How would the switch panel get wet, it's in the center console? Failure of the switch panel has been reported many times.

ta muchly - all fuses ok - no drinks allowed in cup holder, the only time water might've got in was during the last floods and then it was slow and not very deep but that was weeks ago ????

If flood water got in, it would be the BECM I'd be worried about. Time for diagnostics or a swap for a known good switch panel.

I have had 2 swirch packs fail and the Nanacom diagnostics will not pick it up but you can operate the windows and sunroof from the outputs in the nanacom if the window motors are ok.
second hand switch panels are available on ebay
