will a 300 tdi dash fit in my 200tdi?
id like to replace the dash in my 200 as its worn and cracked and i like the idea of upgrading to the 300 dash as its a bit better finished and has a glove box.
can it be done?
how easy is it to do?
thanks

For a start the dash supports, heater, the electrics are different but the width is the same, so if you have the skills to replace a complete dash then it won't be hard, if you don't then it will be a bugger.
I don't have the skills. but I do to recover an existing dash top so that's what I would do, the glove box is not that big so I could do without it.. never had a glove box in my RRC and never wanted one :)

yep 200 speedo is cable, where as the 300 is electronic. Mate of mine tried it in his 200, ended up with brown, and grey dashboards, and evem got the matrix, then gave up on it. Got all the dash bits left over minus the dashboard itself if you need them.

The speedo fitting is a minor detail in the scope of the project, there's available a short drive cable (6 inches maybe) with a transducer on the end of it that can be used.. it is used on some 200s.

Or just use a 300 cable and transducer. It's just a black box that fits onto the speedo gear in the Transfer box if you remove the transducer form a 300 a speedo cable will fit straight into the hole that's left. they only went electric for the ECU/EDC side of things.

Just like mine then :) but I don't have a cable only a transducer with a transfer box modified to take a transducer on the side of it.
The 200 series V8s had the short length of drive cable screwed into the speedo output then the transducer.
