Dear All,

I have been offered a lwb sIII with a sound 6 cylinder petrol engine & straight body work but a knackered chassis. I have access to a broken lwb sIII (for free) with a not too bad (well, repairable anyway) chassis but it originally had a (long since snaffled) 4 cyl diesel lump on it. My question therefore is this: Will the 6 cylinder lump fit onto the decent chassis? The reason i ask is that Paddocks sell a different chassis for a 6 cyl than for a 4 cyl. I need to know if it's doable & if so how much extra work it would be before i decide how much to offer for the V6 with decent body panels etc. Many thanks, G.

Yup it's been done before(the conversation, dunno about the engine swap), general concensus was don't do it cos the 6 cyl lump is crap:)

The Rover inline six cylinder engine was pathetic.
Overhead inlet valves, side exhaust valves, LOW compression, the worst of all worlds.

It made quite a pleasant sound, the only good thing about it.

The 4 cylinder 2.5 petrol engine would eat the six alive any time.

And it would fit right in ....
