lol, weren't a dig  (just realised ......)

let be honsest, yer get a tratter to stick a couple o hay bales and a sheep int back of, and aquire a bad back driving and a smacked elbow steering, besides getting ****ed on wi water and cowd wi temperature, yer get a disco to stick a bale o hay ont back seat an a sheep int back, get to drive in relative comfort of a reclining seat and tepid warm air, an the possibility of getting ****ed on wi water.
an more practice wi a welder..

very true, but i like the relative comfort of a disco.if i ever get to drive mine.:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi:behindsofa:

Started out as a bit of wiring and a few weld on patches, then escalated into a full on rebuild.

I nearly bought a Camel Trophy D1 200 Tdi that was campaigned by the Belgian team on the 1992 Trophy.

So close but dodged a bullet there, the romance of a Camel is very tempting but reality hit me like a lead brick and I realized it was nothing more than a sand glow yellow D1 with a lot of body rot and most of the goodies missing like the winch and bumper, the roof rack and a badly bodged roll cage that needed extensive repair.

I hope to have mine done for the safety test in the coming weeks but may end up being after Christmas now

Cheap, cheap parts, and plenty of donor parts that arn't stolen, less likely to be stolen, comfy with full leather so easier to clean the mud off, I'm a mechanic and welder by trade so not worried about a bit of rust, and don't bang my elbow while driving lol

Bought the D2 because I wanted a D2! I would have bought a 110 but the wife wanted more comfort.

Bought the D1 because it was very cheap, low mileage and in pretty good condition. Didn't really want a D1 but it was too cheap to walk away from. I'll be using it for greenlaning and offroading for a while and then one of them (maybe the D2) will have to go to make room for a late fully specced RRC which is what I've always wanted!

:D
I loves mine I do, had mine 5 years now, part of the family, both my son and 1 daughter use it when something needs moving or towing.
daughter "really" drives it, just loves it, drives it just like a man
(oh feck, that`ll get the feminists going now)
yes, I got mine silly dirt cheap from a metey,
yes did spend 3 months under it 4 years ago as I`m rather fussy about ferrous oxide, had the time, had the welder, had the sheet metal and underseal to make as good/mayber better in places
(had years of previous experiance of welding/building race cars)
I liked the 7 seats/liked the BIG loadspace when seats are folded,
as my disco does boot sales, moving peoples furniture & ****e, or we all go visit other rellies by filling 7 seats.
being partially disabled/old/moany fecker, I CAN get into my disco much easier than my Lexus, but also being a not very slim bloke, the seats further back than some other tratter type cab trucks thus making it easier to get in or fall out..
so why did I buy a disco - suits me better than most other cars/trucks.
would I ever sell it
NOT while I can drive it, its the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned !!
Happy Christmas and lets hope for snow (as the Lexus will be fecking useless)

On my 3rd 300 disco now (one write-off, one sold for deposit on van). Originally got my first disco because I couldn't afford a defender. Having had the disco for a good year before some scooby pulled out in front of me, I decided I was a disco man. Dad had a defender at the time so I was able to compare. Basically prefer the size, I (kinda) know my way around the mechanics of it all now and I much prefer the dash layout; Lots of space for gadgets etc. Plus back seats out, matress down. Great for short trips around UK and EU.

2nd buyer, I thought I would buy it on my way to a Td5 Disco, 13 years later still got it, and its so reliable, 200 Tdi 1994, knocking out 30 mpg, plus its all mechanical. Why change.
I love it.

Just bought my first discovery 1 300 tdi. Had a subaru legacy, a couple of fourtraks, a freelander, series 3 swb diesel and a shogun in the past for towing my wife's horses around. She has lorry now, but we missed the 4x4.

I bought the discovery because my Dad's not ready to sell me his 90 yet! I have to say I love the discovery ride and driving position. Sticking to land rovers from now on.

Happy Christmas all and thanks for your help and support in 2013!

Cheers
Andy
