I bought mine firstly to do the work......pull a 1500 - 2000kg trailer for work.
And be our family car.
So far she's near perfect :);-)
And the bonus is.....I have always wanted a Land Rover........
So one happy man I am....
PS...My wife likes her too ;-)

Why i bought a Disco?
Wife kicked me out new years day and i needed somet to fill up with belongings, pull me track day car out of the garden and haul it all as far from Stinky Scarborough as i could get.
Had to get a car that day and all options were a road ready disco with brand new off road boots, or a gaylander with props removed, no tax, and for 400 quid more than the disco.

Job done. Back in Devon, and Disco earned a place in my heart.
I'll never sell it.

Bought cheap as a part-ex from friends car sales pitch with a "broken gearbox" - replaced the missing washer under the difflock switch (dealer recall notice - thanks Rave!!) - used it and loved it ever since.

Other Landys have come and gone in the >6 years i've had the Disco, but this one remains the best all-rounder for me and my lifestyle - evens gets used towing the boats and trailer for the rescue team at times!!

Can't see me replacing it (doesn't mean others still won't come and go tho....) - spending some time and money on it at the mo (Full service and belt done, building winch bumper next...)

FiL had bought it from a local guy relatively cheaply after it failed to move on ebay, then we needed to start working on my old x reg mondey. Figured I'd better spend my dough on his disco and move the mondey on...

Disco ended up costing me £300 after moving the mondey on. Well happy.

I'm loving the fact I can fix it meself for 'pocket' money and have already amassed a veritable trove of spares that are secreted in the loft/FiL's garage/any place I can drop stuff off and 'forget' its there!

I wanted something comfier that the Series III but that still had the offroading capabilities of a defender. I'm a sucker for the interior of my Disco 1, it's just layed out really well. Plus its a ship load cheaper to run than the Series III :D

Had a 200Tdi 3 door years ago which I had to sell. Finally got fed up of a series of expensive to maintain vans so when a 300Tdi popped up at good money I decided
to take the plunge. So when the 'new' disco is serviced and sorted for work it'll be
bye bye piece of french cr@p !

So I can take the seats out and use it for this .
