My Fiance and I are shortly going to be starting a re-build of MY:) 1962 2a. We need to get a galvanised chassis and was wandering if the collective can suggest the best one to go for; Marslands, Richards or other??
Many thanks in anticipation...Libby

Hello & welcome!

Whenever i've spoken to anyone in the know they seem to suggest Richards are the ones to go for. Reasons given to me are that they manufacture the correct chassis for the specific mopdel year - all holes, mounts etc just as they should be and no 'generic' holes etc to fit alternative model years.

Again, this is only what I learned from speaking with a couple of LR specialists when potentially looking to purchase vehicles / restoration.

This said, nobody has given me any good reason for avoiding any other option.

I believe Richards supply Paddock, however I have been waiting 6 month for my series 3 chassis from Richard and still not got it so I can't really recommend them lol. There's a place in Doncaster called Designa chassis, give them a call!

Thank you for the advice...not good news about the wait tho as we are hoping to restore the 2a for our wedding car in May!!

ring round and ask, i used all of them only designa chassis were **** but that was 8-10 years ago so may be different now
